A Note From the Principal:
Dear Bear Tavern Staff,
Happy Friday!
Be on the lookout for NEW trout today!!!
Remember - never to give up! There is always (metaphorically or literally) someone willing to meet you in a parking lot in Bordentown, fix your chiller and give you some live fish. Sometimes you just have to keep looking and keep trying. Don't forget that things that are easy are often not as meaningful or as fun in the end as things that you have to work or struggle for. That applies to many things in our lives, not just fish.
I am very excited about the awesome bulletin boards that have been popping up.
Let's keep moving forward. We have a lot of exciting things happening, so enjoy them, nurture them and stay focused even when we hit potholes. If we do not quit or flinch, we are certain to be successful!
Sincerely,
Chris
Key Information:
- Women's History Month - We are going to use the model that we used for Black History Month: One page biographies about women who have made big impacts! Just complete a bio, print and hang. Please see the following resources: www.biography.com & 31 days of Amazing Women . Please just list your submissions on THIS SPREADSHEET to avoid duplicates.
- Principal's Cabinet Notes - check with your rep, but HERE are the items discussed.
- Road to the Reading Final Four Update - Our recordings are coming along nicely. Next week we'll release the first round of links. Have fun with the project and feel free to encourage students to reflect upon WHY they like certain books. I'll be sharing information soon with parents soon, introducing a new wrinkle: The "Final Four" words about each books - I'll invite families to tweet 4 words that describe the book, show how the book makes you feel, explain what you love about it, etc. FEEL FREE TO JOIN IN, TOO! Just tweet a picture of the book or of a student reading the book with #BearTavernPride and some indication of the four words. Example: "Peanutbutter and Cupcake: Four Words - Funny, Silly, Friendship, Persistence. #BearTavernPride" I'm interested to see what students come up with! Students can go basic or sophisticated, depending upon their age and ability... 100% optional and for fun, but a way to have students think, share and collaborate.
- UPDATE TO PARCC DATES - The PARCC implementation has been changed to the week of May 8 (M 5/8 ELA1, T 5/9 ELA2, W 5/10 ELA3, Th 5/11 M1&2, F 5/12 M3&4). This gives two more weeks of instruction, etc. More info to follow.
