Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
Hope you are all doing well. We are in the final weeks of school! Please be sure to come to Open House tomorrow night from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
Student Learning
Today I was lucky enough to join the 5th graders (teachers and parent chaperones too!) in the New Horizons Outdoor School at Sempervirens for a day filled with hiking, exploring, collaborating, sharing, presenting and most importantly learning and having fun! What a week! They will have a lot to share when they return tomorrow.
Want to Join School Site Council?
We are looking to expand our SSC for next year. We are looking for two additional parents to join our committee. If you are interested in joining our work (we meet once a month) please fill out this interest survey and I will reach out to you with details.
Next Year
If you'd like to share your insight regarding your child's learning style for consideration during classroom placement, you can fill out this input form. I do not take teacher requests. We always look at creating well-balanced, diverse and dynamic classrooms.
Updates and Reminders:
Buena Vista Open House-Thursday, May 12th 6:00pm-7:30pm
With COVID cases on the rise these past few weeks, please consider sending a mask to school with your child. Masking is the #1 mitigation strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19. Also, remember that our district will continue to report positive cases on our District Dashboard for the remainder of the school year.
It's a great day to be a Bulldog!
Respectfully,
Angela Gramlick
Principal

Attention 5th Grade Families
Important information for parents and guardians of fifth graders:
This year your child will study lessons on human growth and development. These lessons cover important topics related to puberty, which many 5th graders are beginning to experience. The lessons help children to understand the physical and emotional changes they may experience during puberty and to acknowledge these changes as a normal part of growth and development, learn scientifically accurate anatomy and physiology of their bodies, and understand their responsibility for their own personal hygiene. Additionally, lessons help girls to understand the menstrual cycle and what to expect during a period.
The Always Changing Program is based on national research and consultation with school nurses, health educators, parents, and medical professionals. To view the student video click here. For additional parent resources visit: www.pgschoolprograms.com.
If you have further questions about this program, please contact Connie McCarley at cmccarley@walnutcreeksd.org.
