REMOTE LEARNING PARENT TIPS

SOME PARENT TIPS FROM COOLIDGE...

Build routines that help your child understand that they are really in a school day.

  • Use timers that give your child a 10 minute warning that the next session is about to start.

  • Create a quiet learning spot that will help reduce distractions.

  • Talk about the Coolidge Online Learning Expectations as a family and help your child honor them.

  • Help your child attend every learning session on time and ready to learn.

Embrace the struggle that naturally comes with the learning process.

  • Your child is supposed to engage in some type of struggle while learning. It is apart of the learning process.

  • Most children should not need help during the lesson. We DO NOT expect perfection from our students. We want our students to try their best, ask questions, be problem solvers, and get their work done to the best of their ability. (Not to the best of their parent's ability). When your child makes mistakes and gets questions wrong, our teachers learn more about how to support them. Please allow your child to do their own work and learn how to ask their teacher questions.

  • At Coolidge, we encourage all staff and student to have a Growth Mindset. Please see the link to learn how you can help at home.

  • Support Teachers will be setting up times to meet with your child.

    • We have MANY support and specials education teachers who are booking lessons with students outside of the three learning times.
