Notes from Mrs. Torres
Football Game Plan for 9/25
The RCG will perform our show during Halftime of the game! ALL PARENTS of RCG students are invited to enter through the south gate with the RCG as we go in to perform at Halftime!!! NO ticket required! They will simply allow parents to come in on to the track with us and spread out on the track and/or the end zones to watch/listen to our performance! We MUST stay socially distanced to watch the performance. Parents will need to park in the South Lot and will follow the RCG into the stadium.
Parents CANNOT go into the bleachers to watch the performance. We MUST stay socially distanced on the track. You will have the opportunity to view our show from higher up by coming to a Thursday night rehearsal. If you come to our Thursday rehearsals to watch, please ensure that you are wearing a mask and remaining socially distanced in the bleachers! Thank you!
VERY IMPORTANT! New routing procedures: In order to maintain social distancing, we will be slightly altering the procedure for football games. Parents that are planning on coming on to the track to watch the performance will remain OUTSIDE THE SOUTH ENTRANCE GATE UNTIL THE RCG PHYSICALLY TAKES THE FIELD FOR HALFTIME.
At the end of the performance, students will exit out the south gate right off the track, just as we did last time. Parents will be routed down to the south gate exit toward the ticket booth to help alleviate traffic flow issues during the exit. PLEASE ADHERE TO THESE GUIDELINES SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THESE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE STUDENTS!
The RCG will NOT sit in the stands or participate during the game in order to adhere to the social distancing and capacity guidelines of the stadium. The drumline will return during the 3rd quarter to play 3rd quarter cadences/cheers. All other students will be dismissed after Halftime.
Students MUST have a ride secured at this time, as they will not be allowed to return to the stadium to watch the game and they will not be allowed to stay in the building.
Students will report at 6:00pm on Friday dressed in their parade t-shirt, shorts to wear underneath the uniform, and LONG BLACK SOCKS and will dress into the FULL BAND UNIFORM! We will warm-up and rehearse in uniform over at our practice lot prior to heading over to the stadium to perform for Halftime.
We will NOT be serving the students a meal. Students must eat before they arrive for rehearsal at 6:00pm. Students may arrive as early as 5:30pm, but no earlier than that to dress into uniform.
6:00pm Report to dress into uniform
6:30pm Rehearsal on lot
~7:45pm Head to south entrance gate to stage for Halftime
~8:00pm Perform Halftime (time approximate as it is determined by the pace of the game)
Dismissal immediately after Halftime performance except for Drumline who will dismiss immediately after 3rd Quarter

RCG Community Night
We’d like to invite YOU to our RCG Community Night on Thursday, October 15th at 8:00pm! The RCG will perform their show in full uniform for all parents, family, friends, alumni, and supporters! Come out and support these hard-working students!
Royal Guardians Booster Meeting
Because we are finally able to meet in person, the booster meeting has been changed to Thursday, September 24th at 7:30 in the Band Room. Parents of band and guard students are encouraged to attend and hear the latest updates. After the meeting, parents can go to the stadium to watch the end of RCG rehearsal.
Hope to see you there!
PPE for Band Class
We are planning to implement several safety protocols and to incorporate PPE into our daily rehearsals when we return to hybrid in-person instruction during Phase II. Research from the Aerosol Study conducted by the University of Colorado has resulted in the following recommendations for mitigating the spread and keeping aerosol emissions at a minimum while playing an instrument:
- Students that play a wind instrument will need to wear a mask with an embouchure slit in it. These will be provided.
- Students that play wind instruments will be provided with a bell cover for their specific instrument.
- Students that play percussion will need to have THEIR OWN sticks/mallets. Any specialized mallets that will be shared MUST be wiped down in between. Percussionists will also wear their regular mask while playing.
- Students that play a woodwind instrument will need to provide a handkerchief, scarf, or cotton cloth that can be draped over the key holes and a hair tie or rubber band to attach it to the instrument.
- Students that play a brass instrument will need to provide puppy wet pads (can be cut into fourths) in order to empty instrument spit valves in a sanitary manner. We are asking for donations of these.
- We will also be spreading students apart 6 feet or more within our classroom seating area.
We want to make our classrooms as safe as possible and we want to be able to continue doing what we love!

How Can You Help?
HSE Bands has created an Amazon Wish List for materials needed that will help get kids back in the band classroom safely. Right now, the greatest need is for puppy wet pads that will be used to safely collect liquid from instruments with spit valves (as stated in #5 in the PPE info above).

If you shop through Amazon Smile, please select "Hamilton Southeastern Royal Guardians, Inc" as the organization you'd like to support and a portion of your purchases will be donated to the band program!
