1. Assessments for all new and returning students for ESL, ECE Eng (Early Childhood Education) and HiSET has been completed. This big task was done prior to starting our programs on September 7, 2021 to ensure the most accurate data collection as possible for this years quarterly data submissions. Thank You to the hard work and dedication of Vanessa and Araceli Fausto, Stephanie Carrillo and Roxanna Argueta for their phone calling, emailing, texting and accommodating students to test in person and in our parking lot for the past two and a half weeks. All students have been notified and are ready to start classes.
2. Family Literacy Program is always a huge success! Next week Mrs. Lupita Melgoza will welcome students into her class. In small groups composed of a child and parent, students will learn about the importance of literacy and play to stimulate the child's growing mind.
3. Hartnell College and Soledad Adult School have partnered to create an ECE (Early Childhood Education) pathway. 24 students are co-enrolled at Soledad Adult School taking ECE-ESL class on Tues/Wed and Counseling 1 at the New Soledad Hartnell College Campus . This three year program will help students earn ECE credits and lead into other teacher pathway programs at Hartnell College and CSUMB. This partnership has been made possible in collaboration with the Salinas Valley Adult Education Consortium (Ivan Pagan, Maria de Leon, and Christian Regalado). The ECE-ESL class will be taught by Francisco Pinedo starting on September 7, 2021.
Students have requested hybrid learning for our programs. To accommodate our student's needs, we have most of our programs in a hybrid model. Students have expressed their interest in learning from home especially in the evening as most of our students don't have babysitting for their children. Our staff has gone above and beyond their way to make their classes hybrid and hiflex.
