The first iPhone
The original iPhone, code named M68 and model number iPhone1,1, was introduced in the United States on June 29, 2007. By June of 2008, when Apple discontinued the original iPhone - later to be nicknamed the iPhone 2G - total sales had reached over 6 million units.
The iPhone 3G
The iPhone 3G had a big change to the design. Apple changed the original, aluminium casing for new, polycarbonate ones with metal buttons. That allowed for better reception - but also offer the iPhone, for the first time, in multiple shades. It was also sturdy and reliable. It released on July 11, 2008
The iPhone 3GS
“iPhone 3GS is the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet and we think people will love the incredible new features including autofocus camera, video recording and the freedom of voice control,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of WorldWide Product Marketing." Schiller recounted how the iPhone had captured 65% of mobile browsing, and how the App Store had grown to feature 50,000 apps. Apple added an oleophobic coating to the screen to help it better resist finger prints and other oils. THe iphone 3GS was released on June 19th, 2009

“iPhone 4 is the biggest leap since the original iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “FaceTime video calling sets a new standard for mobile communication, and our new Retina display is the highest resolution display ever in a phone, with text looking like it does on a fine printed page. We have been dreaming about both of these breakthroughs for decades.” it was released on June 24th, 2010
iPhone 4S
The iphone 4S enabled features like AirPlay mirroring, which let the iPhone project its interface to the Apple TV, and Siri, which replaced the previous Voice Control feature with a full-on virtual digital assistant feature powered by natural language, and a Pixar-like personality. It was released on October 14th, 2011
iPhone 5
“iPhone 5 is the most beautiful consumer device that we’ve ever created,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We’ve packed an amazing amount of innovation and advanced technology into a thin and light, jewel-like device with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, blazing fast A6 chip, ultrafast wireless, even longer battery life; and we think customers are going to love it.” The design was new. Instead of a glass back and stainless steel band, they went back to the aluminum of the original iPhone but this time made it a unibody that covered the back and sides.The iPhone 5 was released on September 12th, 2012
