Changes to Football Games Week of October 10 & October 28 by Coach Amedee
Like last year, our JV Football Game Vs. Cuero will be held at a neutral site to help aid with travel on a school night. We will play at Poteet High School on 10-10-19, @630 PM. Thanks Coach House (Poteet) and Coach Reeve (Cuero) for making this happen!
The Bandera Varsity Football Game versus Austin-Eastside Memorial will be played on October 31st, at 7:30 PM at Nelson Stadium in Austin. This is different than our original schedule, and the changes have been reflected on our website calendar. #WeAreOne
Due to the varsity football game that has been moved to October 31st in Austin at Nelson Field, the BMS Football games originally scheduled for October 31st have been moved to Tuesday October 29th at Burnet. The game times will be 5:15 (7th B), 6:15 (7th A), 7:30 (8th Grade).
BMS Cross Country by Coach Edwards
On Saturday, September 28, the Bandera Middle School Cross Country Team made the short drive to Comfort. Despite Comfort’s small size, they hosted a huge meet with about 150 runners in each division. Many large schools were in attendance too, like Kerrville, Boerne, Smithson Valley, and Devine. Our runners battled the crowded course, treacherous terrain, and energy-draining hills to come home with some impressive results. Our next meet is in Devine on Wednesday, October 2. Please come out and support our middle cross country teams. We are one!
7th grade boys - 5th out of 18 teams
Makayla Gonzales - 12th overall, individual medalist
Personal best times by:
Mack Robinson, Rance Roden, Hayden Swalve, Jocelyn Torres, Isabella Chapa, Briana Guth, Kelton Rabb, Kimber Jureski, and Eli Wood
On Wednesday, October 2, the Bandera Middle School Cross Country Team competed in the Devine Cross Country Meet. Devine held their meet at the city golf course, so we were expecting some fast times and many PRs for our runners; unfortunately, the course was considerably longer than 2 miles. However, instead of PRs, the Bulldogs brought home some outstanding team results. Our last meet, the district meet, is in Llano on Wednesday, October 16. Please come out and support our middle cross country teams. We are one!
Team results:
8th grade boys - 5th place
8th grade girls - 3rd place
7th grade girls - 3rd place
7th grade boys - 1st place
Individual medalists:
Ruben Palacios - 6th place
Kiersten Brown - 4th place

Friday Night Lights by Coach Bagby
The Bulldogs traveled to Crystal City Friday night and came away with a 24-7 victory! It was Homecoming for the Javelinas, and it was a packed house. Despite the excitement of the home crowd, Bandera stayed focused on the task at hand to remain unbeaten.
The Bulldog defense played lights out! They held the Javelinas to 111 total yards and 7 points. The Bulldog defense had 3 tackles for a loss and a defensive scoop and score.
The defense gave up ZERO 1st downs to the Crystal City offense in the 2nd half.
Gage Brown and Tommy Cardenas were the Defensive Players of the Week.
Special Teams Player of the Week was Cristian Gonzalez who had 3 kickoffs out of the endzone and another one into the endzone that pinned them on the 5 yard line (with help from a solo tackle by Liberty Bomer). The Crystal City offense was pinned time and time again. This was huge because the Javelinas had returned 3 kickoffs for TDs in their first 3 games.
Gunnar Brown took the opening kickoff 35 yards (just past midfield) to give the Bulldogs great field position to start the game. At the 9 minute mark in the 1st quarter, on a 3rd and goal from the 3 yard line, QB Solomon MacNeil handed a jet sweep to Gunnar Brown who walked into the endzone for the first score of the night. Logan Williams had a great block on the edge to pave the way for Gunnar. Blaise Salazar added the PAT to make the score 7-0. With 6:32 left in the 1st quarter, on a 3rd and goal from the 5 yard line, MacNeil hit Mason Phair on a play action pass for a 5 yard TD. Phair sold the run block and slipped uncovered into the endzone. Salazar added the PAT to bring the score to 14-0.
In the 2nd quarter Crystal City answered with a fake punt that led to a long scoring drive. The score was 14-7 going into halftime. In the 3rd quarter, Bandera sustained a long drive that almost chewed up the entire 3rd quarter. It didn’t result in points, but it did keep the javelina offense on the sidelines for most of the 2nd half.
The first score of the 4th quarter would come on a 24 yard FG by Blaise Salazar. The score was now 17-7. Later in the 4th, Gage Brown scooped up a Crystal City fumble on the 43 yard line and raced down the left sideline (outrunning 3 javelinas) to paydirt. It was the dagger that sealed the victory for Bandera. Salazar added the PAT to bring the final score to 24-7.
The offensive line paved the way for 199 yards rushing and a 3rd quarter drive that consumed almost the entire quarter. Colton Perkins was the Offensive Lineman of the Week. His senior leadership and on field communication was key for the offense. Cardenas had 76 tough yards rushing. MacNeil had a solid game at QB, with 106 yards rushing and a TD pass.
Your Bandera Bulldogs are 5-0! We have a bye this week, then we travel to Cuero (home of the gobblers). Now that hog season (javelinas) is over, mark your calendars for the start of turkey season (gobblers). Come support us in 2 weeks as we look to start district 1-0!
