Careers in Sports that use Trig
An example of a sports career that uses trig is a sports engineer. Sports engineers design equipment, tools, and stadiums for all sports. A sports engineer would use trig when designing the stadiums to figure out the height of width of some walls. A sports engineer would also need to use trig when designing equipment such as golf clubs because they would need to find the perfect angle for the golf club head to be so the ball won't have to much backspin, but won't hit the ball to low.
Sample Problem
Sample Problem:
A Sports Engineer is designing a baseball stadium. He wants to figure out how high to make the home run wall so that the baseball players can still hit a home run, but the fans aren't too low to the ground. He knows the from home plate to the center wall is 400 ft and he wants the angle of elevation from home plate to the top of the wall to be 2 degrees. How high should the wall be?
