Aquin Athletics Fundraising Dinner . February 9

It’s time for the Aquin Athletic Department Fundraising Dinner! Last year, the Beltline Cafe held a fundraising dinner for the Aquin Boys Basketball team. This year, they would like to do the same but with a few modifications. They would like to have the proceeds of the dinner go to the entire Athletic Department (grades 9-12) and benefit all athletes and athletic programs.

Beltline donates most everything for this event, so it is a total profit maker for us. Also, to accommodate more patrons (and thus more proceeds), we are moving the dinner to the Aquin Cafeteria. Serving will be from 5:30-7:30pm on Sunday, February 9. We will need ‘all hands on deck’ to make this event successful, so please do your best to come to the event and help and encourage all of your players to attend and help as well. We will have a sign-up for helpers coming soon to organize the different areas we need to have covered.

Ticket Sales:

81 of our 103 Senior High students are members of at least 1 athletic team at Aquin. We would like each student athlete to sell 5 tickets to this event. Today at lunch, all Senior High Athletes were given 5 numbered tickets to sell for the event and we recorded which numbers they were given. Please turn in all ticket payments and any unsold tickets by February 3. You will be responsible for any unsold tickets that are not returned. If each student athlete sells their 5 tickets, we will make just over $4000 on ticket sales alone.

To encourage sales, we will reward the top ticket selling athlete with a $50 Hibbett’s Gift Card. The 2nd top selling athlete will receive a $25 Hibbett’s Gift Card.

Additional Revenues:

Cash Bar:

In addition to the $4000+ we can make on ticket sales, the Aquin Boosters will have a cash bar for donations. The Boosters will staff this bar from the concession stand.

50/50 Raffle:

We will also have a 50/50 raffle at the door. The winner will be drawn at the end of the evening. So that the winner need not be present to win, we will have donors put their name and phone number on their tickets before putting them into the pot.

Silent Auction:

Each team will have at least 1 Silent Auction Item to sell during the dinner. All proceeds of a team's auction items will go back to their team.

Additional Questions:

If you have any questions, please contact Tickets will also be available in either Aquin office or at the Beltline Cafe beginning Monday. We thank you for your support!

Let us pray . . .

Say a Prayer for Maddy . . .

Earlier this week, I posted an update on Maddy Greene who is battling cancer. She has begun yet another round of radiation as the cancer has spread. If you want to get the full update, go to Aquin's Facebook page or sign up on Maddy's Carepages at

After posting the update on Facebook, Jen Petta commented with the following prayer and novena suggestion. Thanks Jen!

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder Worker" because of the numerous miracles which you obtained from God for those who have turned to you in their need. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being. You turned to God when the power of human beings could do no more, and you were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His cross to heal your affliction. I now ask God to heal these sick persons whom I entrust to you: (Here mention their names) Aided by your powerful intercession I shall sing with Mary a hymn of gratitude to God for His great goodness and mercy. AMEN.

O God, you gave St. Peregrine an angel for his companion, the Mother of God for his teacher, and Jesus for the Physician of his infirmity. Grant, we beg You, through his merits, that on earth we may love our holy angel, the Blessed Virgin, and our Savior, and in heaven bless them forever. Grant that we may receive the favor we now ask.... Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Say one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be with the invocation: St. Peregrine, pray for us.

Say a Prayer for the Gastel Family . . .

One week ago, Julie Gastel became another Aquin angel in heaven. Julie's funeral was held today at St. Mary's Church. As her brother Jack lovingly said: Julie was a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a niece and a friend to everyone she met. Julie's parents, Jim and Ginger (Bangasser), and Julie's 4 brothers, Jack, Jeff, Judd and Joe are all Aquin alumni and huge Aquin supporters. May God bless them and bring them peace in the days ahead as their 'special' angel smiles down upon them.
