Superintendent's Update
COVID-19 School Closure
Dear LPS Family,
First let me say a huge thank you to all of you for your understanding, kindness, and concern as we have been navigating the rapidly changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19. Our students and staff are always at the heart of every decision we make and we remain committed to providing an outstanding education in a safe and healthy learning environment which for now is at home. At this time we do not have a definitive date as to when it will be safe for our students and staff to return to school as usual, but we are looking forward to when we can make that a reality! We will continue to assess the situation in our community and seek guidance from our local, state and federal agencies, including Collin County Health Services, Denton County Public Health, Texas Health and Human Services, the Texas Education Agency and CDC.
Along with other schools in our area and in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order, Leadership Prep School is officially extending the suspension of all in-person classes through April 3, 2020. The purpose for extending the closure is to help eliminate the spread of COVID-19. We hope you will take this time to care for yourself, your family and those around you, and continue to adhere to the preventative measures as recommended by public health officials, such as limiting interaction and practicing social distancing. For additional information and tips, visit the CDC website.
Please note that both campuses will remain closed to the public during this time.
LPS teachers will continue providing alternative learning options to our students. By now, you should have received information from your campuses and your students' teachers about lesson plans for at home, (Elementary Letter & Secondary Letter). If you have not received information or need help navigating the work, please contact your child’s teacher. Each teacher will have virtual office hours which will be posted for any questions you may have.
The LPS Website, text messages, and emails will continue to be the main source for general parent and student information.
Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work together to deliver a successful learning experience for our students under these unprecedented circumstances.
Sincerely,
Stacy Alton
