Shining Star News
Inwood Primary School ~ November 2020
From the Principal
Happy November,
Dear Families,
As hard as it may be to believe, the end of the 1st nine weeks is quickly approaching! The official end of the nine weeks is November 10, and 9 weeks grades will be available for viewing in Schoology on November 16, 2020 for all students in 1st and 2nd Grade. In grades Pre-K and K, teachers will be contacting you soon about classroom performance. Also, a personalized comment from your child's homeroom teacher regarding performance from the first nine weeks will be sent via Seesaw as well.
We would like to take this time to say a big THANK YOU to all of our school community members- students, families, teachers, and service personnel- for being active parts of our school family this year. We know that we can only achieve success when we work together. Our teachers and school staff have worked diligently- both in the buildings and online- to provide the best educational experience for the students in both the brick and click environments. When the need to shift to remote learning occurred, our teachers and service personnel have continued their efforts to mirror what would happen in a traditional setting to students who were now working solely from their homes. We know this would not be possible without the support of our amazing Inwood Primary families and the hard work of our students. While we know this situation is not ideal, we appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in making school successful for our students!
Being that the last several weeks have been such a transition for our students- especially those who chose the Brick pathway of learning, we are taking the next several days and allowing students to catch up on any work that is currently missing so that we can end the first nine weeks on a more positive note. We want to ensure that those students who did not have an opportunity during this tumultuous time to finish work for their homeroom teacher or specials teachers have specific time allotted to finish those missing assignments.
For the remainder of this week (November 5-6) and next week (November 9-13), there will not be any new specials assignments assigned to students for music, library/tech, art, guidance, or PE. Please take time during this time period to check in each specials class and complete any work that is missing. If you have questions about which assignments need to be completed, please send a message via the Seesaw Inbox to the specials teachers to confer on what needs to be completed.
Next week (November 9-13), homeroom teachers will be reviewing concepts from the first nine weeks with students. There will be NO new content introduced. On Monday, November 9, and Tuesday, November 10, teachers will not be giving any asynchronous work to students so that they can finish up any work that is missing. Questions regarding missing work from the homeroom teacher should be sent via the Seesaw Inbox to the homeroom teacher. Live classes will still be held as per the teacher's normal schedule as posted in Seesaw (in the event that remote learning is still occurring).
Please know that our Inwood Primary staff is ready and willing to assist you! We realize the difficult nature of remote learning on many families, and we want to help you! Please reach out to any homeroom teacher, specials teacher, or service personnel to request help for your child. We would be more than willing to assist your child in getting their work completed or offering assistance in reteaching skills that he/she may need help understanding.
Thank you again for the support you've shown our students this year! While this year may present many challenges, we know that together we can ensure our students have a successful year!
