WIGs, MEAUSRABLE STRATEGIES, & SCOREBOARDS, OH MY
But wait, there's more! Reasons for the WHY and other important notes on all things WIGs:
- According to Hattie, teacher credibility has a 0.90 effect size on student learning; it's the 12th most effective strategy a teacher can use to impact student learning. Hattie reports three factors that contribute to teacher credibility; two of those include competence and passion. What better way to practice these than to show understanding and knowledge through sharing your own goals and progress through modeling. Not only that, but because it's a personal goal - it's more likely to come from a place of passion. And just for fun, guess what the third factor is that contributes to teacher credibility? You guessed it, relationships.
- That's right, write it down. According to The 7 Habits of a Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey, "a goal not written is only a wish...a written goal carries ten times the power..."
- Lean in on that goal. What gives you momentum?
- Talk about your goal and progress - celebrate small achievements - keep it alive.
- Feeling stuck? Reread your mission statement daily for 30 days in a row - let it guide future direction and goals.
