Bristow Run ES Panther Press
March 2023
Dear Panther Families,
Spring is in the air! Our students and staff are beginning to feel and see signs of Spring, and we are excited! March is a great time to refocus on school priorities and stay focused on learning so we can do our best as we prepare for spring SOL testing. In May, our students will take the state Standards of Learning assessments. Teachers are working diligently with their students to teach the curriculum and review with students prior to testing. You can help your child by making sure they attend school each day and that they come on time and stay all day. When students are absent or tardy, they miss direct instruction and it does have an impact on your child’s learning. If your child is participating in Cub Club tutoring, make sure they attend all sessions. The school will provide snacks since we know students learn best when they’re not hungry.
Please take time to read our newsletter and mark important dates on your calendar. Boosterthon just kicked off this past week and we are so excited for our Fun Run Scheduled for March 23. Once we know the weather forecast, we will send our schedule for the grade level run times. Boosterthon is our most profitable fundraiser and we hope to use the funds to help with school improvements and our learning garden.
Thank you for your continued support! We value and appreciate our parent partnerships; together we make our school community better!
Your Partner in Education,
Mrs. Jeck
BRES Boosterthon is OPEN!
This program only lasts for ONE WEEK, so please register your student TODAY on MYBOOSTER.COM. Share your donation page with family and friends. Thank you for your support of Bristow Run Elementary!

Attention Kiss and Ride Parents
Please make sure your kiss and ride tag is hanging in your front window every day! We are having issues with parents not having tags visible, yelling their tag numbers, having tags backwards or using their fingers to create their tag numbers. When tags are not properly hanging, it creates issues that hold up the car rider line. This also creates a safety issue when tags are not used and if we don't know the adult, they must park and go into the office to show their ID. Thank you in advance for ALWAYS having your tag visible at all times.
3rd-Quarter Celebration: Spring Luau
Bristow Run Readers Thank You!
In honor of Read Across America Week, Bristow Run invited community helpers to demonstrate their love of reading by being guest readers for our students. Each class hosted a community helper (firefighters, police officers, librarians, principals, and more!) during the week of February 27-March 3rd. Below are some pictures of the many amazing guest readers that attended our weeklong guest reader event. Thank you to the helpers who have volunteered their time and thank you to the Bristow Run community for always promoting and exemplifying a love for literacy and reading!

Our Watch D.O.G program helps provide positive male role models for students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important. The program's mission is to support principals and teachers by providing willing volunteers while contributing to improved student outcomes.
