Good Morning Memorial Families,
A great big shout out to the Memorial PTO for all of their hard work putting together this year’s Spooktacular on Friday night. It was a blast, and it was truly a community event. We enjoyed having the Upton fire and police departments here as well as several local businesses. The turnout was overwhelming, and I even ran out of candy! I hope all of your children enjoyed themselves.
This Friday morning at 9:15 we will be hosting our annual costume parade. This is a first for me as we did not get to hold this event last year due to COVID. We will be parading outside starting at about 9:15am. If your child does not wish to participate, we will have an alternative activity for them during this time. I ask that whatever you send your child in that it be something they can remain in for the day or something that can be put on quickly over their school clothes. Please no masks that cover your child’s face completely and let’s save the scary costumes for Halloween night. I look forward to a fun morning on the 29th!
A quick note about morning arrival; We are beginning instruction right at 9:00am this year. If your child arrives right at 9:00 or after, they are missing a critical part of the school day. Many grades are starting their day with our new math program’s Number Corner, which is a key component of building number sense and problem solving skills. It takes time for students to unpack and get to their seats in the morning, so consider that when you are deciding what time to leave home if you are dropping your child off.
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
Warmly,
Wendy
