Be Kind Week

Liberty High School students and staff observed Be Kind Week on campus last week by dedicating five days to showing kindness to themselves and others. Each day of the event focused on small acts of kindness with the intent to spark motivation, show gratitude, honor, and take good care of each other. Throughout the week, as is tradition, each teacher awarded a Be Kind t-shirt to a student who exemplified kindness (pictured below). On the final day, those students were celebrated for their outstanding character.

Parking Updates

  • Students, PLEASE park in your assigned parking spot. If someone is in your spot, notify Mrs. McCain (in Guidance) and park in the visitor section.
  • We are starting to collect parking pass applications for the 21-22 school year. We will need the attached application (below), $30.00, proof of insurance, and proof of a driver's license to pre-assign a parking spot for the next school year. Applications are also available on Mrs. McCain's desk in guidance. We will be collecting applications until May 10th.

  • Spots will be randomly assigned with Seniors getting priority, followed by Juniors, then Sophomores. Applications should be turned in to the Guidance office. Students must be 16 years old and have a license when applying for a spot. Please contact Dr. Kiesel at matthewkiesel@wsdr4.org with any questions.

Blood Donation Opportunity

Since Liberty HOSA was unable to host the two blood drives this year, we are encouraging staff and students to make an appointment to donate blood on their own. If you would like to make an appointment to donate blood, please scan the QR code on the flyer or click this link. Winter storms and COVID-19 have depleted the blood supply and blood donations are needed now more than ever. Students may donate blood if they are 16 years of age or older.

Questions? See Mrs. Strathman

Thank you,

Swofford Game Information 2021

It’s the time of year when we are usually getting ready for our annual Seniors vs. Faculty Scott Swofford Memorial Basketball game.

I know, I know… you’ve been dreaming of seeing Mr. Schumacher dunk on a senior, Mr. Cole throw some ‘bows on the court, and Mrs. Gerringer do those high kicks during the half-time performance… and you are not alone. However, I’m sure you will not be surprised to hear that, sadly, there will be no basketball game this year.

But! Dry your eyes, because we are still hosting an event to raise money for those senior scholarships, and keep the competitive Swofford Game spirit alive. Check out the deets:

The #SOS (Save our Scholarship / Seniors Opposing Staff) Virtual 5K

Register by April 18

Run or Walk by May 2

$25, which includes your own #SOS t-shirt
(all proceeds go to the Scott Swofford Memorial Scholarship)

The Google Form sign-up for the event will include a link to pay for your registration.

Virtual races can be done anywhere, anytime.

You register, wait to receive your t-shirt, and then pick the time and place that’s convenient for you - on a treadmill, in the park, on the track, around the building, wherever!

You can run, jog, walk, skip, crawl, or dance your way to a 3.1 mile finish.

Remember to record, using a device/app, and screenshot your race time and distance, to add it to your team’s average.

LHS seniors can choose to challenge a staff member, if they’d like!

Who will be brave enough to challenge Mrs. Hall!?
All seniors will record and upload their race times, and the team “score” is the average of all participants on the senior team.

LHS staff members can choose to challenge a senior, if they’d like!

All staff will record and upload their race times, and the team “score” is the average of all participants on the staff team.

Community members can choose to race in the name of an LHS senior, staff member, or Scott Swofford himself.

The team with the lowest average time is the winner!

Fill out the Registration Form which will take you to the payment page.

Upload a screenshot of your results showing that you finished your 5K (3.1 miles) with this Results Submission Form.

Maybe you'd like to support the cause, but don't want to sweat??

Consider making a donation to the Swofford Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Venmo account is @Runa-Swofford (it may ask for a phone number, just proceed without verification and you will be good to go!)

ACT Issue

LHS students have reported difficulty in finding "Liberty High School" on the high school list when creating their ACT accounts. We are working to correct an error on their website with not being able to find our school when searching by city. In the meantime, you can find Liberty by searching for the school by zip code. Liberty's zip code is 63367. It is CRUCIAL that you add Liberty to your account, otherwise we will not be able to access your scores or add them to your transcript for college admissions and consideration for scholarships.

You can register for an upcoming ACT at www.act.org/bts. Upcoming ACT test dates: Apr 17, Jun 12, Jul 17.

Also, just a reminder that if you are having a hard time getting registered for the ACT, or the only test centers that have seats available are far away, there is another college admissions test option: the SAT. Every college in the US accepts both the ACT and SAT (there is no preference). Liberty is an SAT test site. You can register for an upcoming SAT test at www.collegeboard.org. Upcoming SAT test dates: Mar 13, May 8, Jun 5

Please contact Mrs. Gerringer our College and Career Counselor and A+ Coordinator.

Attention 11th Grade Students & Families

The Missouri state law requires all students be immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases. The Meningococcal Vaccine (MCV4) is required for all incoming 12th graders.

You must provide proof of immunizations no later than AUGUST 15th, 2021!

Call your child’s medical provider to verify that your child’s immunizations are up-to-date. If your child has received the required vaccine, please send proof to the nurse’s office as your doctor does not routinely send this information to us.

If your child needs the MCV4 vaccine, schedule your appointment today and after your visit send proof of the immunization to the Nurse’s office!!

The vaccination can be obtained from your pediatrician, a walk-in clinic, or the county health department. If you need further resources on how to obtain this immunization for your child please do not hesitate to contact me.
