Washington Weekly
September 25, 2020
If your child is enrolled as in-person (traditional) or blended classes will resume on Monday, September 28th. We'll see you then!!
School pictures are this coming FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2nd! Get those smiles ready!
If your child is a virtual student and you would like to have their picture taken, please use the link to the Sign Up Genius below to schedule your time for pictures. We will be taking temperatures as your child enters the building and they will need to wear a mask into the building. We will ask that parents wait outside in their cars and we will bring students back to you when they are finished with pictures. These will be fall pictures and what are used in this year's yearbook.
You DO NOT need to sign up for pictures if your child is in-person/traditional or blended.
As always, we are here to help your family in any way we can. Please reach out to us at lconnery@norman.k12.ok.us, slowery@norman.k12.ok.us or through the school # at 366-5984 if we can assist in any way.
Stay safe!
Dr. Connery & Mrs. Lowery
Technology Reminder
If your family has checked out a device from Washington we are asking that your child bring that with them when they return back to school next week. We will be checking the devices back in and returning them to the classrooms so students will be able to use during class time.
If at some point your child has to quarantine, just reach out and we will make sure a device gets checked out to them to use during that time.
If your student is enrolled virtual for this year and you have checked out a device you do not need to do anything at this time.
Next Week's Lunch Menu
Please Make Sure to MASK UP Before Getting on the Bus or Out of Your Car in the Mornings!
Please make sure your child has a mask on before exiting your car in the morning or before getting on the bus. Having an extra mask in their backpack is also a great idea! Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!
Virtual Student Fall Picture Sign Up
We will ask parents to stay in their cars in the front loop. Students will need to wear a mask into the building. We will be taking their temperature and then they'll have their picture made and be right back out to you.
If you can't make it on this day there will be a retake day on Friday, November 13th.
You DO NOT need to sign your child up if they are in-person/traditional or a blended student.
Morning Arrival Reminder
For the safety of all of our students, please make sure you are staying in your car and pulling through the car line in the morning to let your child(ren) out. We've had a few instances of students running across the north parking lot in front of cars. We certainly want to keep everyone safe. Thanks for staying in your cars and pulling through!
Dismissal Reminder
Please make sure when you pull in for afternoon dismissal in the car loop that you stay in the lane you first pulled in to. That is how your child's name is entered and that's how they know which lane to look for you in. Also, if you are in the inside lane (closest to the building), please pull all the way up to the second crosswalk. Thanks for your help with this!
Reminder About Visitors to Washington...
Visitors will not be permitted beyond the front office (administrative and/or counseling areas) with very limited exceptions. Anyone entering school buildings will be required to take their temperature and wear a face covering.
The office entry door will remain locked throughout the day.
Front office procedures:
Parents/Visitors should call the front office to schedule an appointment to be able to enter the building/office area. Please call (405) 366-5984.
There will be a limited number of people allowed in the main front office and in the front foyer.
There will be no visitors permitted in the building for arrival/dismissal or for breakfast/lunch.
Parent meetings with staff should be held virtually. If an in-person meeting is necessary, it will be held by appointment only.
Have you filled out the 2020 Census yet? If not, please see below!
The 2020 Census will help determine the amount of funding and services Oklahoma schools will receive each year for the next decade for special education, Head Start, after-school programs, classroom technology, meal programs and more. Data from the Census will also impact the state's political representation, including school board seat boundaries for school districts with board member wards or districts. It is important that every person be counted! The Census Bureau has extended the self-reporting timeline to September 30. If you haven't completed the 2020 Census, you can do so by phone, email, or online.
Free Breakfast & Lunch for All Students
We are delighted to share that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has granted several flexibilities that allow the continuation of free student lunch programs. This means that school breakfasts and lunches will be free to anyone 18-years-old or younger effective Sept. 1, through Dec. 31, or until funds for the program are depleted. Students who were charged for meals on or after Sept. 1, will be eligible for a refund to their accounts and more information will be provided when it is available. Meal service for students enrolled in traditional/remote learning will remain the same. To adhere to record-keeping guidelines students will still ring up their lunch as normal, but there will be no charge or cost. For more information , visit www.normanpublicschools.org/meals.
