From Mr. Clemente

Dear Winter Park Band families,

Happy Easter and Happy Passover! To all of our Band families that both have been celebrating this past week or are celebrating today, I hope that all of you had wonderful celebrations! Though during this time all of our regular, long-held traditions have been up-ended and forced to be cancelled or held through a digital medium, I wish everyone a bit of comfort through the craziness. I really miss, and I know everyone misses us all being together and making music each day, and I can't wait for the next chance to see you all.

WIND SYMPHONY AUDITIONS - THIS WEEK

Mr. Smith and I are looking forward to hearing your auditions this week! All of you have put so much time and effort into preparing your audition, and we wish you the best of luck!

Students who are auditioning - you will receive a link in your email the morning of your scheduled audition. Please wait until your scheduled audition time to click on the link and join the audition "room."

WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS

Thank you to all of the students who have been diligent in keeping up with the weekly assignments. Mr. Smith and I know that there are many new challenges that come with being at home and completing your classwork for all 7 classes each week. If you are struggling to complete your work when assignments are due, please do not hesitate to reach out.Especially if you have an issue with internet connectivity or have other emergencies at home. We are here to help you! Especially if you have an issue with internet connectivity or have other emergencies at home. This is all very much different than "normal school," and especially for us in Band class when we can't all get together and be an ensemble as our class is meant to operate. In the mean time, the skills you are individually building through the digital assignments will become incredibly useful to you as a musician and help the Band as a whole. Always keep in mind, a rising tide raises all boats.

BAND ZOOM MEETINGS THIS WEEK

This week, we will be hosting Zoom meetings for all students on Tuesday, April 14, as well as a General Band Booster Zoom meeting in the evening of Wednesday, April 15. Please see the schedule of the meetings below. Students - If this time conflicts with another class that has previously scheduled a meeting, please let Mr. Clemente and MR. Smith know ASAP.

Band Zoom Meetings, Tuesday 4/14:

Symphonic Band: 1:30 PM (Attendance will be taken, participation grade given)

Wind Symphony: 2 PM (Attendance will be taken, participation grade given)

Concert Band: 2:30 PM (Attendance will be taken, participation grade given)

General Band Booster Zoom Meeting, Wednesday 4/15:

7:00 PM

Instructions on how to join the meetings will be sent to your emails the day of each meeting. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Mr. Smith and I are both always reachable via email. As always, it is a best practice to email both of us with any questions, concerns, clarifications, etc. One of us will see the email as quickly as we are able and provide a response.

All of the best and continue to stay healthy and safe,

Mr. Clemente

From the Band Booster President

Week of April 12, 2020

Hello band families. I hope you are all doing well. Please keep an eye on the band calendar on Charms for updates to the schedule and ways to keep everyone connected. If you have questions about band items or would like any type of support, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Clemente, Mr. Smith, me (at njstorch@yahoo.com), or any of the other band parents. We are here to help. This is generally the time of year for new band students and parents to get acquainted with the program, for all students to register, and to look at the schedule for summer and next year, so please stay tuned for information regarding all of those things, some of which might look a bit different for the time being. I imagine students and parents miss attending in-person school and band events, and I know we are all looking forward to participating in these events again. Have a wonderful week everyone.

Be patient as the person auditioning before you may be completing their audition, or Mr. Clemente and/or Mr. Smith may be having technical issues.

*All Auditionees* - Yes, there will be sight reading on the audition. You will be sight reading an 8 measure piece from your computer screen.
