My Livestock show Experience 2020
By: Nayelie Swicker
Showing goats to lambs to pigs and even steers can be really hard work but the overall experience is amazing. I have been showing for 6 years and each year teaches me something different.
On January 15th-18th, we had our annual County and District show including the auction that takes place after district. I showed my 2 goats and my lamb. This year was my first year showing a lamb, and I have to say that my first year showing a lamb went pretty well. On the 15th I moved my lamb in the barn and kept him there. On the 16th and 17th were county and District. I placed 4th, 5th and 7th at county but I got sifted at district which is understandable because it is the fifth largest show behind all the major shows. I saw fellow Center Point kids showing their livestock and I want to give a shout out to them. Lastly, was the auction. I was sad to give away my goats and I even cried about it because my goats Charlie B and Big Tex are basically family to me. We enjoyed our year together and been through things, including many trips to the vet but It was time to say goodbye.
