Who has the Biggest Heart?
Attention Silver Springs! During the month of February, we would like to help Northville Civic Concern! Starting Monday, February 5th, we want to know “Who has the Biggest Heart?” We will be holding a canned/boxed food drive competition all week long between upper and lower elementary. Students can show they care by sending in non-expired canned and boxed goods to help stock Civic Concern’s shelves. To vote, the canned/boxed goods will be placed in their appropriate box (either upper or lower elementary). Each day the goods will be counted and totals will be posted. The winner will be shared on Friday and the winning team gets bragging rights. We will be collecting Monday, Feb. 5th through Friday, February 9th. Thank you for helping our Student Lighthouse Action Team in making this service project a success!

Valentine Pop Sale for Kids Against Hunger
This will be the 8th year third grade students from Silver Springs have participated in Kids Against Hunger meal packaging. Each year, prior to our packaging event, third grade holds a fundraiser in order to contribute to the food packaging cost. This year third graders will be selling Valentine Pops to raise money. The sale will be held during all three lunch periods from January 29th-February 9th.
For 50 cents, Silver Springs students will be able to write a special message for a Valentine, and third graders will attach the message to a Valentine Pop and deliver the messages and sweet treats to the intended valentines on Valentine’s Day.
It’s a Win-Win! Give some love and show some love!
It's Box Top Collection Time!!!
Our next Box Top drive is coming up soon, Feb. 5-9!
Here's a fun way for your student to start assembling your submission now! Print the attached collection sheet and have your child glue or tape your tops to it! This is a great way for your child to visually see the impact their tops make as they add up! (And it makes counting them much easier for your coordinator too!)
Turn in your sheets, or baggies/envelopes, marked with your child's name and their teacher's name, to the school office, or the collection bin just inside the school lobby. Thanks for your support!
See the attached file for a full list of participating products. For more information, please contact Michelle Cummings: cummingsml@hotmail.com
Skating Night!!!
Next Silver Springs Family Skating Night is Thursday, February 22nd at Skatin Station at 6:30 PM.
Yearbook Committee Plea
The Silver Springs Yearbook Committee is looking for creative volunteers to help make the yearbook a success for the kids today and a treasure for years to come. If you enjoy taking pictures or working on your home computer designing online scrapbooks, please consider joining this fun committee. Parents enrich the school community through their participation and generosity. This is a great way to get in those volunteer hours on your time as the bulk of the work is done from home.
A 60-90 minute training will be held at Silver Springs on February 7th from 5:30-7:00. (Bringing your own laptop would be beneficial.) We hope to see you there!
If you are interested in volunteering on the yearbook committee, please email Yearbook Committee Chairs, Kristin Gifford and Melissa Micklash at silverspringsyearbook2017@gmail.com.
Thank you!

Habit #4 - Think Win-Win- Everyone can Win!
What this means: Think about others as well as yourself. Long-term relationships require mutual respect and mutual benefit.
“I make deposits into others’ Emotional Bank Accounts.”
“When conflict arises, I look for third alternatives.”
“I balance courage for getting what I want, with
consideration for what others want.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Live by the Golden Rule- Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
