Partnership Updates
Gage & Career and Technical Education Center (CTECH) Collaborative
Rochester Public Schools and Gage Elementary aim to provide students with enriching experiences and provide exposure to hands-on experiences that utilize skills of high demand professions. Through an internal partnership between students and staff at CTECH and Gage Elementary, secondary students are mentoring younger students through introductions to career-specific skills that align to elementary curricular skills. Kindergarten students have been visiting CTECH during the month of February to learn about the culinary arts career pathway. There, they learned about food through a Five Senses activity and toured the kitchen. The experiences our students are beginning through the CTECH partnership are made possible by the United Way of Olmsted County.
Rochester Grizzlies Hockey Team
Over the course of four months, players from the Rochester Grizzlies hockey team have volunteered a few hours per week at Gage Elementary reading with students, assisting in physical education classes, helping students during weekly backpack food distribution and working with individual students as needed. They have logged close to 50 hours of volunteer time and have impacted students in many positive ways. We look forward to partnering with them in the future!
