All Knowing
Mrs. Kang wore her special “All Knowing” hat as she led chapel this week. She said her hat helped her know answers to impossible questions. Three students asked her the following questions:
1) What is Miss Joseph’s favorite bird? Answer: peacock
2) How long is the Amazon River? Answer: 3,977 miles
3) How many points did Michael Jordan score in his career? Answer: 32,292
Mrs. Kang then shared the bible story based on John 16:23-33. This was when Jesus was teaching His disciples. He was with the disciples just hours before He was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. Soon the disciples would be left alone. Jesus shared with them what they needed to know.
Mrs. Kang’s all-knowing hat was only a game. She knows many things; however, she does not know everything. Jesus is all-knowing (omniscient). He knows every scientific fact, every part of history, and every thought of ours. As the disciples listened to Jesus, they knew who He was. They knew that Jesus was willing to die for them. We, too, have minds to know that we are God’s children and that He sent Jesus to die for us on our behalf.

Walcamp Adventures for Middle School
On Monday, our middle school boarded a bus for Kingston, Illinois. At Walcamp they enjoyed canoeing, archery, walking the river, learning survival skills such as orienteering and building stronger bonds together. There was also time for Bible study, campfires, and nature hikes. When asked about the highlights, student responses included: canoeing, hitting the bulls-eye in archery, walking the river, playing games, laughing, and the camp food. Thanks to our chaperones, Mr. Kapolnek and Mrs. Miller, as well as Mr. Markworth for driving the bus. We hope the students will have many fond memories of their trip. It was an awesome way to close out the school year!
Congratulations to our Principals of the Day...Hazel & Luce!
This week we celebrated back-to-back Principal of the Day with Hazel K. and Luce P. Both students greeted our students during morning arrival, read announcements, visited the classrooms, and declared extra recess time. We thank both their families for supporting our fundraising efforts this year.
Congratulations to Mrs. Schau!
Last evening, the Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation recognized teachers and principals at their annual Teacher Recognition Dinner. As part of this dinner, CLEF presented Dream Awards. Across the CLEF schools, 55 dreams were submitted, with awards going to twenty-five dreams. We are pleased to announce that St. Philip was a recipient of one of these awards. Mrs. Schau dreamed of adding ukuleles and drums to the music curriculum. We are excited to have this opportunity for our students to learn how to play these instruments next year.
In addition to Mrs. Schau, we also had a few other teachers who submitted dreams. Mrs. Kim dreamed of on-site experiences for K-8 presented by the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Miss Joseph dreamed of enriching our curriculum with an online program called Flocabulary. Mrs. Tennis dreamed of new trikes and parachutes for our students. While we did not win these awards, we ask the teachers to keep dreaming!
A View From Above
On Thursday evening, Mr. Tennis climbed the church scaffolding to get a first-hand look at the progress on the bell tower. He could not help but notice the magnificent view of the city from above! He also saw how badly the limestone arches were in need of repair. This project is a big undertaking, and will last a few more months.

Chapel Offering Recipient:
We continue to pray for all those affected by the war in Ukraine. The crisis hits close to home as a few of our St. Philip family has family members who live in Ukraine. We want to help, so we have designated Lutheran Church Charities as our chapel offering recipient for our final quarter of the school year. Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) is a non-profit ministry which supports Christian human care ministries of the Church. LCC volunteers are currently supporting Ukrainian refugees. 100% of our donations will go to support Ukrainians who are suffering. Our goal is $400.00. Chapel offering: $408.50

We pray for Nurse Pat’s (CLEF) mom who has been moved to hospice. May God be with her and her family during this time.
We pray for all those affected by illness including our students and their families.
