Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! It is great to have our students and all their energy back in the building! Each school year is unique, bringing with them change and challenges. I have been so impressed with our staff, students and families for working together to make the start of this school year a huge success!


We also have several new staff members this year and an entire grade level of new 6th grade students adapting to middle school life. Welcome to our new Ankeney Family:

We are working hard to prepare your student for the road ahead. Throughout the first few weeks of school, students have been learning all about our building expectations through "The Charger Way". Students have participated in fun activities while also focusing on our three key building phrases - "Be Kind, Work Hard, Problem Solve." We have also rolled out our new Response to Intervention program that offers additional support to students with Math and ELA that goes beyond the core curriculum. In addition to our school day activities, we are excited to see our students beginning to start athletic programs, clubs, music groups, and other fun activities after school. As challenges arise during this school year, please encourage your student to self-advocate by asking questions and seeking out assistance when needed. We have dedicated staff ready to serve them. Positive Behavior: The Charger Way

Ankeney students will continue to participate in our PBIS Program focusing on the “Charger Way” which aligns with the three phrases pictured below. Each Wednesday during Flex Period, students will be meeting with the same staff member to work on character and anti-bullying activities. With a consistent, small group of around 20 students in each class, students will be able to form a positive connection with others.


Ankeney staff have been rolling out our PBIS Program with students during Flex Period the first two weeks of school. Students had the opportunity to participate in relays and a scavenger hunt as they learned about the positive behaviors that we should see at Ankeney (See The Charger Way Matrix below). Students will be able to earn stamps for showing positive behavior throughout the school day. Students can redeem their stamps in our Charger Store every Friday for great prizes such as bowling passes, free pizza, school supplies, ice cream, smoothies, and much more! Ways to Get Ankeney News

Make sure you are receiving the latest school news which is sent home via Apptegy, our online communication tool. If you are not already subscribed, please make sure your information is current in OneView or send an e-mail to: AMSHelp@gocreek.org. We send out messages on a regular basis to keep you informed of what’s happening at Ankeney. We also post things on the Ankeney Middle School website and Beavercreek City Schools Facebook page. The Ankeney PTO has a Facebook page that we encourage you to join as well. You can see check out the Daily Announcements each day on our website which is updated by 12:00 each day. There are many ways to stay informed, so choose what works best for you!

Important Reminders

  • As a reminder about our dress code per our Student Handbook, no hats, hoods, or other types of headgear are to be worn inside the building. Shorts and shirts must not be revealing. No shirts that expose the midriff and/or low-cut necklines. Jeans with holes may only be worn if skin-exposing holes do not appear above mid-thigh.
  • Students can be dropped off between 7:10-7:25 a.m. in the Back Parent Loop behind the building entering to the far east of the building. Please have students exit along the curb and proceed to Door 14W. We do not have supervision for students prior to 7:10 a.m.
  • If your child is staying after-school for Detention or ARC (Academic Resource Center), they will be dismissed out the Front Lobby Doors at 3:00 p.m. We do not hold Detention or ARC on Tuesdays due to staff meetings.
  • Cell phones must be powered off and stowed away (such as a backpack) during the school day. Students are not permitted to use their cell phones to contact home. All communication must take place through the office or clinic as we are responsible for all students while they are in the building.

Did you know there is a PTO section on the school’s website? To view, go to Ankeney's Web page and on the right side of the page, select PTO. Here you can view upcoming events, links to forms/information, signup to volunteer, or make a monetary donation through PayPal to support our students and staff this year. Every family that donates $10 or more will receive a yard sign (Please indicate if you do not want a yard sign) Thank you all for your donations thus far!



We also have a Facebook group, Ankeney Middle School PTO, where you can post questions and get real-time information. We limit access to parents, guardians, and staff so please answer the prompts when requesting access.

We have great things planned for our staff and students this year but we need your help! If you are interested in volunteering to help, please take a moment and complete the Ankeney Volunteer Form.

National Junior Honor Society

Ankeney Middle School has a National Junior Honor Society Chapter.


More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. NJHS looks to further develop these skills in our members and help the local community as well.


More information can be found on our Ankeney website under the “students” link. Membership consideration packets will be available and accepted after October 21 and are DUE NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 5 to Mrs. Back.

National Junior Honor Society Membership Requirements and Expectations

· 7th and 8th grade students who have a 3.7 GPA are eligible.

Attention 7th Grade Parents

It has been brought to our attention that the WPAFB immunization clinic is out of Tdap & Meningitis (MCV4) vaccines. The Montgomery County Health Department has both vaccines in stock at this time. They can get your student in for an immunization update within 2 to 3 days. Please call 937-225-5700 to schedule an appointment. You can also check with the Little Clinic at Kroger, the Minute Clinic at CVS, or Walgreens. Please call the Ankeney clinic at 937-458-2509 if you have questions or concerns. Thank you.

Friday Night Home Football Games @ BHS

We are excited to have a full stadium for the first time in more than a year this coming Friday for our Varsity Football home opener vs Franklin. Friday Night Football games are an exciting community event and opportunity for our student-athletes, cheerleaders and marching band members to showcase their talents. We wanted to take this opportunity to review ticketing procedures and expectations for student etiquette of those in attendance.


The athletic department has moved to all electronic purchases for the 2021-2022 season. We will be 100% digital this season for all ticketing at high school athletic events, we will not be selling any tickets at the gate. We have partnered with Ticket Spicket which will make purchasing tickets, athletic passes and reserved seats faster and more efficient for years to come. Please make sure to purchase tickets prior to your arrival for the game at spicket.events/beavercreek.


All Elementary and Middle School students in attendance Friday night are expected to arrive with an adult who is staying for the duration of the game. We ask that elementary students sit with that adult to watch the event AND that middle schoolers either sit with the adult they arrive with OR sit in the designated area for middle schoolers in the student section in the South Endzone bleachers (far west section of the student section).

Power of the Pen

Is your student creative and imaginative? Does he or she like to tell stories? If yes, Power of the Pen may be for your child! Power of the Pen is an interscholastic writing competition for seventh and eighth-graders. The writing at tournaments is impromptu, creative writing. Practices for the tournaments are held once every other week after school, and the district competition is usually in January. Students can advance to regional competition (usually the beginning of March) and then the State Championship in May. If your seventh or eighth grader is interested in participating on a team, there will be an informational meeting in mid-September. More information will be coming soon on announcements.
