Principal's Message
This week we start MCAS testing! During MCAS testing season please ensure that your child has a good night's sleep and full breakfast! Please remember that breakfast is available at school for all students! ALL STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE TO SCHOOL ON TIME!
During testing ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PROHIBTED. This includes cell phones and apple watches, etc. Please be sure that you discuss with your child that if they chose to still bring these devices to school they will need to give these devices to their classroom teacher/testing proctor BEFORE testing begins and they will receive them AFTER the testing session has ended. This is a non-negotiable. If any device is set off (rings, vibrates, etc.) during testing we risk having to invalidate tests.
Thank you for all of your support at home and for understanding!
Good luck to all of our students and classroom teachers in grades 3-5! You got this!!!!
Thank you all!
Maria

Character Trait of the Month
Our April character trait starting tomorrow is DETERMINATION. Take a look at some great book recommendations and activities (including vision boards!) in this month’s Smore. Determination is working hard and putting in your best effort. As our 3rd-5th graders go into MCAS next week, this is such an important trait to learn about. If students need some inspiration listen to this Shake It Off Test Taking Parody!
How are we celebrating Determination here at Barbieri? Through SPRING MADNESS!!! How many basketballs has your class earned?
MORNING DROP OFF
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN ON THE SIDEWALK OR CROSSING DUDLEY ROAD ON THEIR OWN TO AVOID CARPOOL DROP-OFF LINE. THIS IS UNSAFE AND WE ARE NOT ABLE TO SUPERVISE THEM AS THEY WALK AND CROSS ON THEIR OWN. MANY FAMILIES HAVE BROUGHT THIS CONCERN TO US DURING DROP OFF HOURS.
If you are dropping your children off PAST 9:05AM you MUST PARK YOUR CAR AND WALK YOUR CHILDREN to door 1. We don't want our students walking across the parking lot alone.
Additionally, YOU MUST PARK YOUR CAR because the front of the school is fire lane for the fire department but it is also USED DAILY FOR OUR BUSES. Our late buses often pull into our school parking lot/driveway and are blocked by cars stationed at the front of the school with no driver inside the car. PLEASE PARK YOUR CARS AND WALK YOUR CHILDREN TO THE DOOR FOR SAFETY!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND
UNDERSTANDING!

Message from the Office of Equity, Diversity and Community Engagement
Dear Students and Families,
Our Office of Equity, Diversity, and Community Engagement has been working with The Equity Imperative to plan and develop a multi-year professional learning plan for Framingham Public Schools.
On April 12 from 3-5PM at Framingham High School, we invite students and families from all grades, and community partners to join us for a conversation on their experiences to best understand why racial equity matters from their perspective. Please RSVP via this link.
As a continuation of the listening session with key stakeholders, the district will create a subcommittee that will meet with The Equity Imperative for 4-sessions in May and June. The goal of the subcommittee is to further investigate the key areas of success and barriers towards our work of equity. As a result, the Equity Imperative will collaborate with the subcommittee to design Framingham-specific professional learning opportunities. The subcommittee will be composed of varied stakeholders
Additional information on applying to be on the subcommittee will be provided in the coming weeks. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or comments!
Best,
Tiffany Lillie [She/Ella/Hers]
