During a recent staff meeting, Lori Smith, the previous recipient of the "This Bud's for You!" Award at Vienna-Finley, presented LeAnn Taylor with the award for the month of February. Smith stated the following in honor of Taylor: "I want to give this award to a person I admire greatly. She is one of the most kind-hearted, thoughtful, and caring person I know. She believes in our school and her students. She strives every day to make VFES the best place it can be. I want to give this “Buds for You” award to LeAnn Taylor. LeAnn has been such a wonderful colleague and friend to me over the years. She is someone that is willing to help me with any situation. I truly appreciate all that she has done for me. Her passion for teaching and high expectations for her students shows in her dedication and time she puts into planning and preparing her lessons so that her students can be successful and ready for 3rd grade. I appreciate LeAnn and all she has done for me. Her friendship means more to me than she can imagine. Thank you LeAnn!"

Girls' Basketball Schedule
5th Grade Basketball and Cheerleading Eligibility Requirements
Scott County School District 2
Fifth Grade Extra-Curricular Academic Eligibility
The following academic guidelines will apply to all fifth grade students who participate in basketball or cheerleading during the 2016-2017 school year.
Students must maintain passing grades (D or above) in all subjects to be eligible to participate in basketball and/or cheerleading.
Progress reports will be run for participating students on Friday afternoon following lunch. The names of players/cheerleaders who have an “F” in one or more subjects will be reported to the Elementary Athletic Director.
On Saturday:
Students WILL be allowed to participate in basketball games.
The AD will notify coaches of players/cheerleaders who are ineligible for the upcoming week.
Ineligible players/cheerleaders WILL NOT be allowed to attend practices or participate in games the following week.
Academically ineligible players/cheerleaders WILL NOT be allowed to participate in practices or games until eligibility requirements are met.
NOTE: Ineligibility is served week to week not game to game. For example, a player who receives a failing grade in math on Friday, November 3rd will be allowed to play on Saturday, November 4th, but he/she cannot practice the following week. The player has no failing grades on Friday, November 11th, but there are no games the following day. Since the player’s eligibility is restored, he/she can practice the week of November 14th AND participate in the game(s) scheduled for Saturday, November 19th. In this case, the player would miss no game time.
Snow Days and Delays
In the case of inclement weather, SchoolMessenger calls will be sent to all parent phone numbers. Parents and students can also find out about school changes on our web site, on local radio or TV, and on district Facebook sites. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in Harmony so that you are receiving the SchoolMessenger call.
In the case of a 2 hour delay, schools will begin at 10:05 AM. Bus routes will run two hours late, but riders should be patient as winter roads often slow to travel. Vienna-Finley will still open at 7:30 AM for parents that need to drop off students on the way to work.
If school is cancelled, no sport or club activities will be held.
