Other Information
recess
Recess is 8:05 am. Students will report to the classroom at 7:50 for attendance and dropping backpacks. If a student is tardy he/she will still have to get a tardy slip and meet us outside. PE is your physical activity on PE day this means no recess on those days. This is for every grade in the district.
Breakfast in the Classroom
Students can order breakfast the day before to be delivered to the classroom in the mornings. Information was mailed this summer but additional criteria for price can be found on the claxton website.
Snack Time
**No Sharing Food Due to Serious Food Allergies**
Each day during 2nd block, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a snack from home. During this time, students are allowed to bring one healthy snack option, as well as, water in order to hold them over until lunch. Due to food allergies, we ask that students refrain from bringing any nuts/nut products. If snack time results in classroom disruptions or if the classroom is left a mess, students could lose their snack privileges for a time determined by the classroom teacher or 5th grade team.
Birthday Treats
We love to celebrate birthdays with your kids! You can bring treats during our lunch block but we have many food allergies in our grade so please nothing containing nuts, or made with peanut oil or manufactured in plant that handles nuts of any kind. Check ingredient labels carefully and be sure you know where the product is manufactured.
Holidays
We do not host holiday party events due to our schedule but you are welcome to share your cultural and holiday foods or traditions during lunch. Please email us at clx5thgrade@acsgmail.net to send details beforehand.
Cell Phones and Technology Policy
We understand that students have personal devices and cellphones for after school activities but students are not allowed to use them during school time.. This includes using the;m for texting, calling, watching videos or listening to music (even on the playground). If a phone is in view of the teacher, it may be taken from the student. Students will receive the device back at the end of the day. Thank you for your cooperation on this. The basic rule of thumb is, : if a student has a cell phone at school, it should be turned off until the student leaves at 2:30. On rare occasions students may be allowed to use a cell phone in an emergency but they must check with their teacher(s) or a school administrator beforehand. Please personally check with administrator about iwatch phone use in school if this applies to you.
Flexible Seating- one chance
Pick a seat that you will learn best for the whole class
Sit away from friends that will distract you
Do not move chairs or desks
Seat goes to person who starts working first so no seat saving.
If teacher has to move you or solve a seating problem you will lose a stamp
