Hello, Families!
We had a WONDERFUL beginning to the school year! I hope your children have come home with stories about new friendships, fun games, and interesting classroom activities. We spent the past days building relationships with one another through many different mediums.
It has been fun to get to know your children through their ME bags! We will continue sharing as they are brought in (if your child has not brought one yet, please encourage him/her to do so). Mrs. Wuest (our teaching assistant) brought in a photo board and shared information about herself with the students. She knows many of them, since she was in first grade last year! I introduced myself to the children through The ABC's of Mrs. LaCrosse book, and I sent home a copy of this in the red "EVERYDAY" folders. :)
Students also created their own classroom expectations. They brainstormed ways to be respectful, responsible, and safe while in our room. The students then added their ideas to our charts with post-it notes. One other expectation that was brought up was to "Always Try Your Best." :)
This past week was also filled with assessments....reading, writing, and math (oh my!). I am interested in sharing the results of the assessments with you as soon as I am able to read individually with each child.
I look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:30pm for our Curriculum Night! If you have not yet sent in a family picture for our LOOK WHO LOVES US wall, please do so (or bring this along on Tuesday).
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. Have a lovely LONG weekend (please remember--NO SCHOOL Monday)!
The Week Ahead...
