Senior Follies

Senior Follies is this Thursday, March 10th at 7:00 PM in the Wright Gym. Tickets are $6.00 at the door. All students attending Thursday night's performance will pay at the door! Students participating in Follies must be clear of all debts or you will not be allowed to perform. See Mrs. Weir or Mrs. Brady to verify you are cleared of all debts. Anyone who just wants to be a part of Follies, please attend because we need everyone to be at practice. We will perform an encore show on Friday morning at 8:45 AM. The cost for Friday morning is $3.00 per student. Seniors will not have to pay for the school-day performance. On Friday, Seniors will be allowed to bring a note from a parent/guardian and can check-out after cleanup and approval from the administration. Also, Senior Follies shirts are on sale for $10.00! Basketball Cheer Interest Meeting

There will be a Basketball Cheer interest meeting tonight in Ms. Mims room S137 at 6:00 PM!

Auditions for Prom

Auditions to perform at Prom will be held today! You must be a Junior in INOW and you must have purchased a Prom ticket! Please see Mrs. Dean in room C110 to sign-up for more information about auditions.

10th-11th Grade Registration

This week, current Sophomores and Juniors will be meeting in the computer labs to register for next year. Don't miss this chance to register for the classes that you really want to take! Freshman will register when we return from Spring Break!

NHS Meeting

Tomorrow, there will be an NHS meeting before and after school in Mrs. Cole's room!

Spring Break

Spring Break is just around the corner! HG will dismiss from classes next week, March 14th-18th.

Last Day for Prom Tickets

The last day to buy a prom ticket is Tuesday, March 22nd. The day after we return from Spring Break. Tickets are now a $100.00 apiece! Please see Mrs. Bell or Dean to purchase a ticket. Tickets will not be sold after the deadline.

Baby Photos for Prom

Seniors who are attending Prom may submit a baby and Senior photo for the Prom slideshow. Digital photos should be submitted to Mrs. Henderson by Friday, March 25th, to The subject line of the email should read "Prom Slideshow" and include the student's first and last name.

Today's Sporting Events

Great day for tennis yesterday! The Varsity Girls won over Guntersville 5-4.

Junior Varsity Baseball split the night with Decatur. JV will pick up a doubleheader with Randolph on Wednesday 4:30 PM at Hazel Green. Varsity Baseball will take on Columbia today at their home field.

HG Softball had a great home opener! Varsity went 9-1 over Huntsville Panthers.

Madison County Democratic Women 2016 JFK Scholarship

Madison County Democratic Women was founded in 1961 to support the ideals articulated by President John F. Kennedy. The centerpiece of our work is the annual JFK scholarship, awarded to a college-bound high school student who intends to pursue a career in the fields of law, government, public policy or politics. Applications are due by midnight April 4th, 2016. Applications not received by the deadline will not be reviewed. Essays may be submitted via email to or to MCDW, PO Box 692, Huntsville, AL 35804).

Fantasy Playhouse

Fantasy offers two scholarships for high school Seniors: the Herriott Scholastic Scholarship and the Morris Technical Scholarship to students who have worked with Fantasy Playhouse through acting or technical work. Guidelines are now available for these scholarships online and through the Fantasy Office. The deadline is April 11th at 5:00 PM.

Alabama Home Builders Foundation (AHBF)

The AHBF awards scholarships to deserving men and women who want to pursue careers in the core trades of the home building industry. The AHBF board of directors is actively interested in ensuring that our industry has enough skilled workers now and in the future. It is through awarding scholarships to students pursuing degrees and certificates in these fields that the board hopes to ensure that our homes continue to be built safely and with good craftsmanship. Enclosed is a copy of the Alabama Home Builders Foundation scholarship application. Please visit for more information including eligibility requirements. The deadline is March 15th.

Local Scholarship Opportunity

Textbook Brokers is part of the largest Southern based textbook company and it is our goal to eliminate the stress and high cost of buying textbooks. Students have enough things to worry about and textbooks should not be one of them. We would like to offer the opportunity for one of your students to receive a $500 Textbook Rental Scholarship. It’s extremely easy to be entered, simply fill out the attached form and fax, mail, or email it back to us by May 1st, 2016. The winner will be announced Friday, May 6th, 2016.

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form into Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of the school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

First Priority/FCS

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy.
