Principal Update
Week of November 20, 2017
Let's be elite in our 20 feet!
Good Afternoon Hornets,
Thank you for your continued work and efforts to support teaching and learning at Lesslie. I hope you know how much I appreciate all you do for the students at Lesslie. Please take time to relax and enjoy your family and friends. You have earned it!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
A special thanks to all of our teachers and staff for planning our Family Night on last Thursday. I really appreciate everyone who attended and helped make the night a success. The activities were engaging and students and parents really enjoyed themselves. Thank you Ms. Osborne for planning an awesome Veterans Program! It was out of this world and the veterans in attendance were moved. I received so many compliments about the performance.
Shout Outs
Thank you to Trekeelia Simon for organizing our Watch Dog Dads kick-off! We had a great turn out. A special thank you to Kelli Ferment, Dina Genco, Donna Freemon and Cynthia Blakely for serving food and drinks to our Watch Dog Dads and students!
Thanks to Donna Freemon for always being "Jessica on the spot" (Get it, Jessica not Johnny :) )! Donna seems to always be in the right place at the right time. In the last month Donna was on A - hall when a student had a head injury and needed immediate attention and last week she was on A-hall conducting screenings when a student had an asthma attack and needed his inhaler. Thank you so much for keeping our students safe! You are appreciated!
Dina Genco for coordinating Hugo and the Charlotte Hornet Bus visit! The presentation was awesome and really promoted reading to our students.
Hope Brazil receives the early turkey award for submitting lessons plans for November 20th and 21st on November 14th. You are on the ball!
Lisa Hancock for reaching out to Lisa Taylor and assessing a student on Fountas and Pinnell together. This is definitely the way that we should be utilizing our literacy coach and working together to grow professionally!
Lisa Taylor for supporting the growth of all teachers at Lesslie! Thank you for coordinating our upcoming author visits.

Professional Learning Community
Let's continue to utilize Enrich to access data to improve our instruction and student achievement. Remember data is only effective if it is analyzed and used to improve instruction. Naomi did a great job last week of sharing reports that you can access in Enrich. If you have questions, please let me know or you may contact Naomi.
Safety
Remember it is part of our Professional Code to Put Students First. Please make sure that you report to duty on time. It is not optional to leave students unsupervised. If you are running late, please call the office so we can ensure that your duty is covered.
