Hello Jackson Families!

We were happy to welcome some of our students back from the Temporary Virtual Option this week, but it was also bittersweet to have to say goodbye to students leaving for the Virtual Academy. We certainly understand the hard decisions that our families are faced with during these times and we appreciate all you do to ensure that your child has a successful educational experience!

This week, September 13-17, Texas schools honor Celebrate Freedom Week. Both Celebrate Freedom Week and Constitution Week focus on September 17, the date in 1787 when delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution. The instructional goal of this week is to highlight the values and ideals on which the United States was founded as well as the sacrifices that were made for freedom in the founding of the country. A Celebrate Freedom video created by the District was shown on JagTube (Jackson's closed circuit broadcasting system) on Monday.

September 15 through October 15 has been designated Hispanic Heritage Month and Jackson's wonderful Librarian, Amy Kincaid, has provided many excellent resources below for celebrating the achievements and contributions of our Hispanic American champions. Please be sure to check out her presentation below.

Beginning September 14, Plano ISD’s Parent Education & Engagement Program (PEEP) will host 30-minute ”Lunch and Learn” parent sessions for Plano ISD families on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:15 p.m.-12:45 p.m. on Facebook Live. Log on to join Plano ISD parent educators and other parents to explore evidence-based positive parenting strategies as a community. Please visit the Plano ISD PEEP webpage for more information.
