Academic Growth Recognition awards
The School Board recognized Anoka-Hennepin students whose growth in math, reading, and/or language acquisition ranked in the top 5 percentile at each grade level, when comparing scores on the same assessments from the beginning to the end of the 2022-23 school year. The students recognized for this achievement include:

Youth Enrichment League Chess Tournament
Dr. Mary Wolvertson, Associate Superintendent for Elementary Schools, recognized the Eisenhower Elementary chess team who finished in third place in the 62 team Youth Enrichment League Chess Tournament. Team members include Nick Eisel, Nathan Kuechler, Wyatt Olson, Bianca Radigan, Callen Salmi, Knowles Schaefer, and Summit Wiley. In addition to team honors, Willey finished second during individual competition.
Magnet Schools of America Merit School of Excellence Award Top Merit School Award
Dr. Mary Wolverton, Associate Superintendent for Elementary Schools, presented the Magnet Schools of America Merit School of Excellence Award Top Merit School Award to University Avenue Elementary School - Aerospace and Children’s Engineering and Science. Diedre Bloemers, principal; Luke Reisgraf, assistant principal; and Kate Watson, curriculum integrator, were in attendance to receive the recognition on behalf of the school.

ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
Chemistry Curriculum Adaptation
Dr. Josh Delich, Associate Superintendent for High Schools; Dr. Nichole Rens, Secondary Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment; and John Wolhaupter, Science Teaching and Learning Specialist, presented new chemistry material recommendations for Chemistry I and Honors Chemistry I and II. The recommendation was approved on a 5-1 vote with Audette voting no.
LABOR RELATIONS AND BENEFITS
2023-24 Health and Dental Insurance Rates, First Read
Dr. Jennifer Cherry, executive director of human resources; and Todd Mensink, director of labor relations and benefits; provided an overview of the 2023-24 plan options and rates for the district’s health insurance plans with UnitedHealthcare. The recommendation was approved by the School Board on a 5-0 vote with Simon abstaining from the vote.
