Another fresh New Year is here...
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love, laugh, and give!
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and are ready for a HOLAmazing 2020!!
We'll see your students back tomorrow at 8:15 am!
Please take a moment to read important reminders below:
Supervision: There is NO SUPERVISION before 8 am.
Breakfast: Breakfast starts at 7:45 am. If your child eats breakfast, remember to stay with him/her until 8 am.
Visitors: All visitors must sign in by the office and take a "Visitor" or "Volunteer" sticker.
Absences: If your student was absent, you have 72 hours to clear the absent. You can come to the office, call (925-685-6446) or email (cardenasa@mdusd.org) and/or bring a doctor’s note to the office. District is no longer allowing to change absent reason after 72 hours.
Tardy? Please stop by the office if your student arrived at school after 8:15 a.m. for a tardy pass.
Lunches and School work? please make sure you send your student ready in the morning by bringing all that is needed (lunches, school work or projects, etc.) This is an interruption to classrooms that should be avoided.
HOLA Spirit Wear will be sold every Friday after school. Don’t forget to get your shirt to show your school spirit! Wear your Spirit Gear on Fridays!!
Lost and Found: Too many coats, sweaters and items are left around campus every day. Please make sure all your students items are labeled with their name so it returns to it’s rightful owner.
Snack or Sandwich Ziploc bags? We use sandwich or snack size bags for ice when our HOLA Jets get hurt. If you'd like to donate a box or more, bring them to the office, we'll be so happy to take any donations.
NO TOYS AT SCHOOL! Please remind your student not to bring toys, balls, or cards to school. They are a distraction. Lately, we have collected several items from students. If your student’s toy or other distraction was taken away, you must pick them up at the office.
Our lovely Mariyaih's last day at Holbrook was 12/20. She has found a job closer to home. We wish her the best in her new adventure but she'll be absolutely missed. We'll be having volunteers to help with morning traffic and lunch supervision while we hire another person.
This week:
1/7 Welcome Back and Bienvenido 2020
1/8 5th grade Outdoor EdCamp

Feliz año nuevo, HOLA FAMILIAS! # HOLA2020

Nuts/nut products and allergies / Alergias a productos con nueces
We have a few students in our school that have a life-threatening food allergy. The
students have an allergy to Peanuts/Tree Nuts.
These foods, even in trace amounts, may cause a severe reaction (anaphylaxis) that can lead to death. The following symptoms may occur: hives, difficulty breathing, vomiting and diarrhea, swelling of the lips, mouth, and throat, itching and sneezing, loss of consciousness, and death due to shock. Even touching contaminated surfaces may cause a reaction.
Here are a few suggestions for you as parents:
Never take food allergies lightly; they can be serious and life-threatening.
Ask your child’s friends what they are allergic to and help them to avoid it.
Tell your child, “DO NOT SHARE FOOD.”
Frequent hand washing reduces the spread of viruses during the school year and helps protect food allergic students. Wash hands thoroughly after eating. Similarly, encourage good hygiene before and after-school. If your child had peanut butter for breakfast please have them wash their hands.
Tell your child to get help from an adult immediately if a schoolmate has a reaction.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY PRODUCTS WITH PEANUTS/TREE NUTS FOR SNACK or LUNCH in an effort to minimize risk.
Check the bottom of the ingredient label to see if it may contain peanut/nut products or was processed in a peanut/nut factory.
Holbrook cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment for our students, but depends on the cooperation of our parents to keep our school safe for all children. Thank you for your support!
