This Months Curriculum:
Five senses
Week 1: Sight
During this week our activities will be mostly outside. Children will observe their environment, and they will describe or draw what they see.
Week 2: Smell and taste
During this week children will be participating in cooking activities.
Week 3: Hearing and touch
Children will create musical instruments and sensory boxes.

Parent Education:
Outside the Home
The outdoors! Children should go outdoors every day for exercise, fresh air, and fun. Parent and children will have greater freedom outdoors to jump, hop, swing, look, and listen. Let children make noise! Remind them about any rules parents have for playing outside. Here are some of the activities that parents and children can do together, but for more activities click on the link below this article.
Talk about all the things parent and children see in the sky, near the house or apartment
Colors
Bright sun
Moon
Neighbors
Cars
Shapes
Dark clouds
Stars
Snow
Houses
Help children find animals and insects.
Tell children the names of the animals and insects they see and hear.
Ask children where they think the animals live, how the insects build their homes, where they get their food.
Look up toward the sky at different times of the day with your children.
Talk about the ways that trees bend and what the clouds look like.
Look for changes over time—how are the leaves different in the fall from the spring? Are there more or less birds in the sky now than there were last month?
Connecting Home to School:
During this week children will be learning about the 5 senses, and for this month’s parent involvement is to make a sensory bottle.
Materials needed:
-Water bottle
-Water
-Any items to place inside the water bottle (e.g, glitter, pom-poms, paint, feathers etc.)
This project will be due February 10th.
