January 4 - 8 at Central Elementary

Welcome Back!

Welcome to 2016 and welcome back from the winter break. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable time with family over the past couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you. How about those new year resolutions? I have one that will fit into one of the contests being organized by social committee czarina Kelly Hilgendorf (It has something to do with the extra poundage that has become attached to me over the holidays.)

As our kiddos return let's remember to really reteach Cardinal code expectations with one slight change. Please stress the EXPECTATION that students should be familiar with expectations so they should be ready for fewer reminders because we know they know how to be leaders and make good choices.

Character Assembly Comes to Central

Through the work of our assembly sub-committee the Super U Challenge Assembly is coming to Central on the morning of Wednesday, January 6. Two presentations will be made; one beginning at 9:00 AM while the second presentation will begin at 10:00 AM. Each presentation will run 40-45 minutes. An effort to work around special schedules (to the extent possible) is being made and a final schedule will be out Monday morning.

Each challenge in the show is based around positive behavior / character building traits that promote respecting others, building trust, and choosing words and actions. The overall theme of the show is that kids have the ability to make choices that contribute to making the school great, strengthen friendships and stop bullying behavior. This assembly fits well with the efforts we are making in reviewing and reteaching Cardinal Code this week.

Thank you to the Assembly School Improvement sub-committee for their work in arranging this opportunity for students. The timing of the event supports what classroom teachers and all adults are focusing on with students. This program represents purposeful assembly planning which targets school-wide goals and helps further develop and support a positive school climate and culture. Thanks again to the Assembly sub-committee for your foresight and leadership in bringing the Super U Challenge Assembly to Central Elementary!
