Adjusting to Updated COVID Protocols
Thank you for continuing to report any symptoms, and for keeping your child home if they are not feeling well! We truly appreciate our strong partnership in keeping everyone as healthy as possible! If you know your child is exposed to a positive COVID case, or has a positive COVID test from a lab (home tests are not accepted), please call the attendance line, and you can also help us out by filling out the COVID reporting form. Providing the information in the reporting form helps us determine next steps in terms of school exclusion, etc. Whether you report symptoms by calling us, or an exposure or positive test result to us by calling or via the reporting form, you will receive a follow-up letter via email with detailed information usually within the same day. The new process we have in place is much more streamlined, and allows for more immediate communication with families.
Procedures can look different in certain scenarios for those that are fully vaccinated. For individuals under 18, they are considered up to date/fully vaccinated two weeks after their second round of vaccine. If your child has received a COVID vaccine, and you would like to share that with our health office, please email a copy of the vaccination record to our health clerk Heather Rehg.
Please fill out the 5 Essentials Survey!
5ESSENTIALS SURVEY
Parents are encouraged to take the “Illinois 5Essentials Survey.” The 5 Essentials lets teachers, students, and parents help improve their schools by identifying strengths and weaknesses in their school’s climate and learning conditions.
The 5Essentials Survey is a 25-minute research-based survey. Responses will be completely confidential. Please help us with this as we need to hear your voice on how our school is doing. In order to have viable data, we need a minimum of 20% of parents to respond. The survey deadline is March 11, 2022. Thank you very much for your participation in this important survey. Click on this link, then select Kendall County, then search for our school.Car Line Reminders
As you know, the safety of our students is always our top priority. As the weather changes, there is a need to remind our families of the safe, recommended arrival/dismissal procedures that have been established by our community. During arrival, please do not park and have students walk through the drop-off line. Please be sure to pull all the way forward to the end of the building to drop off students to help reduce the wait time for all families who are dropping off students.
There are two safe options for student dismissal: students either ride the bus home, or parents are to pick up students by following our parent pick-up line procedures (again, pulling all the way forward to allow for multiple cars to be stopped for pickup). The Aurora Police Department will continue to be present from time to time. They have asked we remind our families of the following information:
Cell phone usage is strictly prohibited in school zones.
The speed limit in school zones when children are present is 20 mph.
Make sure all children are buckled up properly.
Please also remember that our staff is taking the time to help direct traffic and keep staff, students, and families safe during our drop-off and pick-up times. Please obey their direction as they are trying to keep everyone safe. We appreciate your alertness and attention to procedures.
Thank you for your continued support and for keeping our students safe!
Valentine's Day
Additionally, as we have done in lieu of classroom parties for Halloween and before Winter Break, students will do academic-related activities in their classrooms related to Valentine's Day.
