Book Checkout in December : 961

Congratulations to Mrs. Ponder and Mrs. Carnley's classes for winning our December reading contest!

Mrs. Carnley's class zoomed ahead of Mrs. Roberts' class at the last minute by including AR testing in their visit to the computer lab! Keep reading everyone!

More Accelerated Reader updates!

I keep tweaking AR as needed. Read-aloud testing is now available thanks to a change in the settings. There seems to be a problem with the reporting feature but I will be fixing this problem after I contact them this week.

Again, if you need help teaching your class how to sign in and take tests, please send me an email! I will be glad to go into the computer lab with your class and help for the first time. We will be going over this in the library this week, and I will be making an info letter to send home. Please keep me posted about any problems you have with AR so I can update it quickly.

I will be putting AR Quiz numbers on the back of the books in the coming weeks so students can easily access the quizzes! But you can look up any book by title - most of the books in the library have AR Quizzes! And you can take quizzes for books that aren't in our library - any book that has a quiz in the AR system. That's why the program now costs so much - there are thousands and thousands of books with quizzes now available!

I have pulled books for you!

In the rack by the door are books about:

  • Winter
  • Water
  • Shadows
  • Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • Rosa Parks
  • American Symbols

Feel free to check them out. If I am not in the library, leave the numbers on the back on my desk! Use them for direct instruction or for a reading center!

Do you need more books for reading centers?

I have two great resources for your classroom!

1. The leveled books shelf : pull some books for your students to read on their own. These books are leveled according to Guided Reading Level Reading Levels from Readiness to Level 3 (M). Check them out to a tub and assign them to reading groups.

2. Book sets and Learning Kits: I have some science book kits with multiple copies of the same book on different SOL related science subjects. Ask me and I will show you the selections. These sets are not marked for levels so you will have to see what will work for you.

Lots and lots of new books are coming in! Check out the teacher new book rack! Teachers always get first choice before students!

If you have special requests for your classroom, please contact me and I will see what I can do!

I still need toilet paper rolls, wrapping paper rolls, paper towel rolls for upcoming Makerspace Projects!
