National School Choice Week- January 24-30

Held every January, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child.

The goal of National School Choice Week (NSCW) is to raise public awareness of all types of education options for children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.

Presenting MVM's National School Choice Week DANCE!

Geoffrey Canada: Our failing schools. Enough is enough!

School Choice Matters

Monocacy Valley Montessori is a public charter school. Our families make a concious choice to attend a school other than their home school. A choice to receive a Montessori education in a old, outdated building without a playground, without an elevator, without a gym.

Why? Because, as Geoffrey Canada shares in his TED talk, Enough is Enough. Many schools fail our students. At MVM, we do things differently, our families do things differently, and we thrive.

This is why school choice and innovation is critical.

MS Students will be Gardening in the Winter

Middle schools students continue to collect winter items until Friday, Jan. 29:

  • gloves
  • mittens
  • hats
  • scarves

Coats (of all sizes) will also be collected and donated.

Please consider donating items for their 'garden'; items that will be placed at specific locations downtown need to be adult sizes. Very gently used items are acceptable.

This work is inspired by Blessings in a Backpack's work to take care of those in need in our area and other random acts of kindness.

Thank you to those who have contributed to this community service project.
