Counselor's Corner
We have focused on bully-prevention in guidance lessons during the past few weeks. Lessons on bullying were conducted in 1Roth, 1McDevitt, 2Wallace, 3Benes, 3Martin, 4Finkenbeiner, 4McGuire, 6Bryan and 6Gendron. I will teach lessons in the remaining classrooms in the coming weeks.
It is amazing to see the understanding your students have for what constitutes something as bullying (hurtful, repeated, one-side, imbalance of power) and what they can do if they encounter it (Recognize! Refuse! Report!). Students are reminded to talk to a safe adult about any unsafe or hurtful behavior so that we can help make it stop. When we return from winter break, lessons will focus on celebrating diversity!
Holiday assistance forms were due back this week. Thank you to those who sent them in or reached out to me. Please feel free to call me at 215-368-6002 x1688 or email me at murrayrl@npenn.org if you have not already reached out for assistance. Gift cards will be collected and distributed to families during the week of December 20.
With the holiday season upon us it is a good time to stop and think about what we are grateful for. Taking time to connect to the things we are thankful for can make a positive impact on our children and the way they experience the world around them. Please click on the links below from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Making Caring Common Project for tips on talking to your children about gratitude.
