CalKids- A New California Program!

CalKIDS gives children in California a jump start on saving for college or career training. To be eligible for CalKIDS, participants must be:

• An eligible low-income public school student in grades 1-12 in California.

• Born in California on or after July 1, 2022 (your new born could also be eligible).

All participants receive a seed deposit in a CalKIDS account to help pay for future education after high school. Students could be eligible for up to $1500. CalKIDS can help families boost their children’s college savings and increase access to higher education.

• Use your student's SSID number to check eligibility

1. Log into Parent Portal using computer.
2. Select student.
3. Find SSID number- see example below.

1. Open app on phone.
2. Select student in upper right hand corner.
3. Find SSID number on right hand side of the page - see example below.
