Principally Speaking
We have had another good week at DCMS! Despite students and staff battling bouts of the stomach bug and nasty respiratory infections, we continue to learn and grow. We are taking steps to deep clean and sanitize desks, door knobs, handles, etc, to prevent the spread of germs. Please emphasize the need for frequent hand washing with your students.
Have you heard of the Jeffy videos that you can view on YouTube? No? Me either, until this week. The topic of Jeffy videos came up here at DCMS during this week in the counseling office, as students were reporting bullying behavior, general rudeness, and name calling at lunch, on the bus, and at recess that resembled the actions of the character Jeffy.
Many of our students have found and are viewing these videos, and some students are imitating what they see and hear on the videos at school. Unfortunately, the content of these videos is not positive. Please help us by discussing this topic with your students and monitoring as best as you can what your student are viewing on YouTube. To familiarize yourself with the videos you can click the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW7xwNASNpE&t=29s. Please be advised that DCMS does not support or condone any of the content or language in the videos. The link is simply provided to allow parents to inform themselves prior to having a conversation with their children.
As always, I am honored and thankful to serve you and your students as the principal of Danville Community Middle School.
Sincerely,
Marsha Webster
Principal

Nutrition Club Information
The Nutrition Club provides supplemental weekend food for children at North, South and the Middle School each Friday during the school year. We all struggle at some point. The goal of this program is to ease a bit of the struggle. You are welcome to sign-up at any point during the school year. The food will be sent home in a cinch sack or plastic bag that can fit inside a school backpack or be carried.
Please complete the form below or complete the on-line registration: http://www.kidssummerlunchbunch.org/club.php. You only complete one form per family. List all of your children that you would like to participate. Each child in your family will receive their own cinch sack or bag on Fridays throughout the school year. This program is the result of the generosity of the Danville community!
Please contact Julie Randall with any questions. Randall.6203@gmail.com or 317-694-5097.
