ACT WorkKeys Test

On Tuesday, December 8th, qualified Seniors will be taking the ACT WorkKeys exams. These students have been diligently working with the WIN program to prepare for this exam. The exam will begin at 7:30 a.m. in designated classrooms. Please check with your Senior to see if he/she is taking the test and make sure that they are at school on Tuesday, December 8th. This is a very important test for those students wanting recognition at graduation and an ACT National Career Readiness Certificate.

Proctors Needed!

We are in need for proctors for our upcoming exams in January. Please contact Assistant Principal Dr. McDuffie to sign up.

Graduation Projects nearing completion

Senior graduation projects should be nearing completion at this time. Practice presentations are scheduled for the week of December 14. Seniors, please remember that anyone behind on deadlines may not participate in any sport or other extracurricular activity, until deadlines are met.

AFJROTC McTeachers Night Fundraiser

NHS Air Force JROTC will hold a fundraiser at McDonalds at 1165 Western Blvd on December 16 from 5-8pm. Stop by and eat, and a portion of the sales will help support your JROTC program.

The Booster Club will be holding a Holiday Store at NHS. In December they will be at the School on Tuesdays and Thursdays during Power Hour

NHS Holiday Ornaments

Get your very own Northside holiday ornament! The Booster Club will be selling the Northside holiday ornaments for $7.00. They can be purchased during power hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will also be sold at the front office and home basketball games. It is the first Northside holiday ornament that is being sold by the Booster Club.

Monarch Parents! Do you have old toys or books that your children do not use any more, or have grown out of? The Teacher Cadet Program needs your help! We study play and learning in children ages birth-18 years. Please donate any used or unwanted toys or books to Mrs. Martin in room 604. We will use them for projects and research!

The new Northside High School Teacher Cadet Program is now registering future teachers and educators! This Honors course is accepting sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in becoming public school teachers, informal educators, or just hoping to learn more about what happens in schools and classrooms. The ideal candidate is a strong student with good communication skills that is able to organize their own time and work to deadlines. Please share this information with your classes. Any interested students should contact Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Erps or Mr. Taylor as soon as possible while space is still available in the course! Check out the website to learn more:


National Honor Society is selling Pampered chef items. These gifts will be back in time for Christmas. See a member to order. They are also collecting new or gently used books for the Onslow County Partnership for Children and chicken broth for the Soup Kitchen. Please bring your donations to the media center.

THE PROJECT GRADUATION $5,000 REVERSE RAFFLE WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Country Club. Three hundred tickets will be sold for $50.00 each. This ticket will get two people into the party where we will be having heavy hors’doeuvres will be served. The first ticket drawn will win $250. Every 50th ticket drawn will win $100.00. The last ticket drawn will win $5,000 [or the last five names may choose to split]. This is a fun, exciting event and it really helps us plan a nice Project Graduation party for our Seniors!

Tickets go on Sale on November 1st and can be purchased in the Northside High School Testing Office. If you have any questions please contact Nell Altman-Boyce.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO SENIOR PARENTS: Please participate in this event and help sell tickets. You may pick up tickets from the testing office to sell any time on Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays until 3:00 p.m.

Northside Wrestlers Crowned Champion at DH Conley

Northside's wrestling Monarchs went 5-0 at the Milt Sherman Duals held @ DH Conley on Saturday to bring home a championship trophy. Scores: 64-18 over Conley; 60-24 over East Carteret; 54-18 over Athens Drive; 54-24 over Cleveland Co.; 72-12 over Hertford Co.
