DC Staff Update
15 March 2015
I'm grateful this week for...
The wallpaper for this week's Update was taken on the first day of school last year with some of our brand new Year 1 students. Last Tuesday, Jessica and Mona's Year 1 class was the first to present their own assembly to parents and other students. I was amazed at how articulate and confident these students were. I also couldn't help but reflect on how much learning there has been since last August, with all the students using the language of inquiry and PYP.
Lots of thanks also to the Y8 and Y9 Campers, and to Lawrence for organising a wonderful primary tennis tournament last Wednesday.

Monday's Staff meeting
Date: March 16 March
Time: 3.30-4.30pm
Location: DC Theatre (please enter through LG/F White Box Theatre)
People included: All staff, including support staff. EAs are welcome to attend although we will provide an alternative date and time for EAs to participate.
The meeting will focus on the wellbeing target from this year's annual plan, expressed through the aspiration, "Through Positive Psychology, to foster a flourishing community to strengthen wellbeing and achievement."
We will work through this aspiration for Positive Psychology by looking closely at the word 'flourish'. It is important to collectively generate our definition of the word, what it means for our school community and how it is shown. It's also an opportunity to 'test the soil' if you will. We will look further in identifying areas within our community that are flourishing well and perhaps some areas that might need assistance.

DC Dragon boat team
Staff are invited to join the DC Mixed Adult Team for the DB Dragon Boat Races, which starts training on Saturday 21 March. Each year this team includes staff and parents and is organised by the DCPTA. This first training is at 1.30pm at the DC pool and is followed by a team BBQ.
Following this there will be a series of weekend in-boat training sessions, leading up to the race on Saturday 20 June. This is a great way to take part in a wonderful HK Festival, have fun, get fit, and learn a new sport. No experience necessary as all training is provided, and returning paddlers are very welcome. For questions and to apply, email DC Cobras Dragon Boat coach Neil Robbins at dcpta.dragonboat@gmail.com, or go to the PTA Shop and put your name on the Dragon Boats sign-up sheet.
