Local Author Spotlight: Crystal Maldonado
Meet Crystal Maldonado
Crystal Maldonado is a young adult author with a lot of feelings. Her debut novel, Fat Chance, Charlie Vega, is a 2021 New England Book Award winner, a Cosmopolitan Best New Book, and a POPSUGAR Best New YA Novel. Her newest novel, No Filter and Other Lies, explores teenage life in the social media age—and the lies we tell to ourselves and others.
By day, Crystal works in higher ed marketing, and by night, she’s a writer who loves Beyoncé, glitter, shopping, and spending too much time on her phone. Her work has been published in Latina, BuzzFeed, and the Hartford Courant. She lives in western Massachusetts with her husband, daughter, and dog.

Diary Comics Workshop with Incendavery (All Ages!)
Thursday September 15 from 4:15P.M. to 5:15P.M.
Dave Wallace, the multi-media artist known online as "Incendavery", will be leading an all-ages workshop on drawing your own autobiographical comics. At the recommendation of a therapist, Dave started drawing these strips in 2016 as a way to externalize & examine his feelings. To date, he’s drawn over 850, posting them to Instagram and Tumblr and connecting with readers all around the globe.

Mindful Movement with Ms. Sue
Saturday September 17 from 11:00A.M. to 11:45A.M.
Yoga and mindfulness instructor Susan Fuller, or "Ms. Sue" to her students, has published a book! To celebrate, we're hosting her for a book reading and mindful movement workshop for children and caregivers. Big Words for Little Hearts is an engaging guide that helps children learn how to promote mindfulness in their everyday lives. Simple repeatable mantras help children create a daily focus, breathing exercises allow children to build upon social-emotional skills and yoga poses maintain healthy minds, bodies and souls. You can purchase a copy and get it signed at the event!
LGBTQ+ Stories*
Saturday September 17 from 2P.M. to 3P.M.
Book discussion & hangout for kids ages 8-13. We'll be reading titles that center LGBTQ+ identities and experiences, usually graphic novels. Pick up a copy of this month’s read at the front desk: Nimona by ND Stevenson!
Zine Workshop with Ezra Rose Greenfield (All Ages!)
September 24 from 11:00A.M. to 12:30P.M.
Get creative and join the self-publishing revolution in this workshop on ZINES! A zine ("zeen") is a handmade & self-published booklet, usually photocopied and traded or sold in small batches. We'll learn some zine history and make one-page-fold "mini-zines" with local zinester and art educator Ezra. Art, poetry, recipes, rants - anything goes, all ages welcome! Ezra Rose Greenfield is a local illustrator, zinester, art educator and small farmer at Crooked Moon Farm in Ashfield, MA.

Crafternoons with Ms. Amy will be every Tuesday from 4:30-6:00 pm. Bring your 3-11 year old for crafts, friendship, and stories. Come for all or part of the time. Age bracket is flexible.
