Online Feldenkrais Class
Tuesdays 7pm UK/2pm EST (or do the recordings when you wish)
Can't find a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement class near you?
Everyone can benefit from doing Feldenkrais lessons, whether to help deal with the challenges of chronic illness, to chase down that elusive marathon PB, or to hit the high notes better onstage. However many areas don't yet have a local practitioner offering classes, or there may be only one or two classes in your area at times that don't work for your schedule.
One way you might solve this problem is to purchase recordings or find free recordings online. However this can leave you feeling uncertain whether you're doing the lessons right, since you don't have the feedback and interaction of a live teacher and other classmates.
This online Feldenkrais class gives you the chance to take a class with a live teacher who can see what you're doing and help guide you... right in your own home.
The class is taught Tuesday nights at 7pm British time (2pm Eastern US) via Zoom, a videoconferencing tool that's incredibly simple to use. (Not in the UK? See what time the class is for you using the time zone converter.)
If you're not free to take the class at that time, however, you'll receive an email every Wednesday with the audio and video recordings of the class. Even though you won't be taking the class live with direct feedback for yourself, you'll be able to see what other students in the live class were doing and use that as a guideline as to whether you're understanding the instructions correctly.
Whether or not you take the class live, your Wednesday emails will allow you to accumulate a library of recorded lessons, both audio and video, that you can return to again and again to help you feel more comfortable and move better.
You'll also be able to email me to get answers to the many questions that can come up while taking Feldenkrais lessons.
Feedback from Current Students:
My experience of Feldenkrais is that is has helped my balance, I have fewer aches and pains and I also find my sleep patterns are much improved. The exercises are fun to do.
I am really glad the class is happening as it is great to keep having Feldenkrais lessons. I think the system works well with Jae being able to see and correct as appropriate.
I like the set up and knowing that if I ever miss a class I won't really miss the class, and it's interesting to see the difference in movements when watching videos afterwards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! This class is designed to be very welcoming and appropriate for beginners as well as for people who've taken Feldenkrais classes or one-to-one lessons before.
Q. I'm not a technological wiz, will I have trouble making this class work?
To be honest, most of the class participants would describe themselves the same way... and so would I! But the class works fine for all of us because the technology is so easy to use. And I'm happy to personally help you get everything set up the first time you take the class so you don't have to be nervous about getting it to work.
Q I travel and/or have a lot of commitments and will frequently miss class. Is that a problem?
Not at all! This is the one Feldenkrais class you never have to worry about missing due to travel. As long as you have an internet connection and have your computer or tablet or even a smartphone with you, you can take the class wherever you are. And if you're not free at class time you can always do the recordings afterwards at your convenience.
Q. I have a chronic condition, will this class be appropriate for me?
That depends. Please email me at email@example.com and tell me a bit about your situation so I can advise you.
