8th Grade CTE TRIP
8th grade parents:
It’s hard to believe that soon, we will begin the registration process for high school. In fact, 8th graders have already had the opportunity to complete the Strengths Explorer and Cluster Finder (interest inventories) in Naviance. These tools have given them some ideas into career clusters and career interests they may want to explore. McKinney ISD offers many wonderful programs that coincide with these clusters through our College and Career Readiness and Career and Technical Education Programs. On November 14th, all of our 8th graders will go on a field trip to all three McKinney high schools to see these programs in action. Each campus will highlight six classes that are part of the Career and Technical Education Programs. We will depart the middle school campuses around 9am and return around 2pm. Students will need to bring a sack lunch on this day or purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria before the tour. It is our hope that with exposure to these classes, students will better be prepared to construct their 4 year plan and will not lose out on opportunities available at the high schools. Naviance and McKinney ISD websites have a great deal of information about the programs. We encourage you to explore both websites. Students may log on to Naviance and use “s” plus their student ID for both the username and password. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor.
Permission slips will be sent home on November 1st and due by November 8th.

8th Grade Only: Yearbook Dedication Ads
Are you looking for a creative way to tell your student, “I love you and I’m proud of you”?
Place a recognition ad in the yearbook!
This is a one-time opportunity for 8th grade students only. In the future, seeing your message will bring a smile as they remember your love and support during these important years. And, it’s easy to create a recognition ad. Go to this website https://jostensadservice.com?REF=A01115764, create an account, and design your ad for your student. You get to pick the photos and text you would like in your ad, format will be adjusted to match the theme and colors of the yearbook.
We can even keep the ad a secret until the yearbook is distributed (but only if your son or daughter isn’t on the yearbook staff).
Reserve a space for your ad today to say how proud you are. Like the yearbook, your message will be a permanent memory. Deadline is November 1st!

Show synopsis: It's the 1960s, a big nuclear blast to the past! School's out for the summer, and the teenagers of Ocean View High are ready to surf, sun and have some fun. Their favorite hangout is Barnacle Betty's Beach Club, which happens to be right next door to the evil Ivana Ratnik's nuclear power plant. But, ooops! Cindy Sue, the head cheerleader, accidentally gets some nuclear slime on her hot dog instead of pickle relish, and soon the beach is overrun with pom-pom wielding zombies!

Lunch for Students
Due to a variety of safety concerns related to food allergies and campus safety and security, McKinney ISD does not allow students to utilize food delivery services at school. This includes services such as Uber Eats, Doordash and direct restaurant delivery. However, parents/guardians will still be permitted to drop food off for their children.
This rule does not apply to deliveries organized by McKinney ISD faculty or a teacher serving as a sponsor of a student organization. We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts to create a safe and secure environment for students.
Parents may only deliver food for your own child. We can't accept group deliveries.
Want to Volunteer?
If you would like to volunteer at CMS, please complete the Volunteer Background Check. If you have been approved in the past, you have until September to update your application for the new school year. You must complete a new form each year. Please note that if you do not complete the proper paperwork, you cannot help chaperone field trips or help with the school in any way. We need and want your help, so please fill out the forms now.
