Let's Keep The Dream Alive

On Monday, we will celebrate the birth and life legacy of a great man, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a pastor- a man of God. Dr. King's famous quote about doing what's right has always inspired me. It's not always easy doing the right thing, but it is critical...it is our faith...it's the foundation of what we teach our students at St. Ann.

There will be no classes on Monday, January 18th, in observance of this federal holiday.

Grades K-5 students will wear either Blackhawks attire or their gym uniforms.

Grades 5-8 Are Now Trained in CPR

Last Wednesday all students in grades 5-8 were trained in CPR by the American Red Cross. Students were taught safety measures, how to access an emergency situation, and practiced hands-only CPR. They also learned how to administer the Heimlich Maneuver to a choking victim.

Archdiocese of Chicago Exclusion Day #2 - Wednesday, January 20th

As you are aware, the Archdiocese of Chicago mandates four Exclusion Days, days where tuition must be made CURRENT, or students may not attend classes. The next Exclusion Day is Wednesday, January 20th. All bills must be current: Tuition, Extended Day, and Hot Lunch. Thank you for paying your bills on time. This is vital to the financial health of the school including all operational costs and salary. Tuition is due the 15th of the month. If you have any questions, please call my administrative assistant Mrs. Summerrise or me. Fr. Bill and I must comply with this rule; please do not send your child(re) to class next Wednesday until all school bills are in current status.

Please note: Mrs. Summerrise will not be in the office on January 14th or January 15th. You may make payment online via SmartTuition, or via Mrs. Hutter or Mrs. Hall in the school office. Yes, we do take Visa (in-person or over the phone).

8th Graders to take the ACT Explore Test

Any student who resides in the T.F. South High School District will soon be taking the ACT Explore Placement Examination. Mrs. Johnson, the 8th grade teacher will send home a specific schedule. Our students traditionally do very well on this examination, and we certainly wish our 8th graders all the best as they prepare for the next step in their educational journey. The test will be administered at St. Ann School during the school day.

I will make sure results are made available to our students as well as their parents.

Another standardized test, the ACT Aspire, will be administered to students in grades 3-8 in April.

THEY WEAR CAPES! Make you move NOW for K-8 Chess Wizards. Registration deadline draws near; we start playing next week!

Little Box Tops Equal BIG Money!

Thank you to all those who clipped and submitted box tops in our Box Tops for Education Program. We received a check in the amount of $734.90. This money will directly benefit our school. By all means, keep clipping!

I also wish to thank Mrs. Rosemary Duda for coordinating this program and all of her time counting and sorting thousands of box tops.

Child home ill?

Please remember to call the Office to report your child as ill. We worry and must document the absence. Also, please send a note to your child's homeroom teacher upon your child's return.

Blackhawks Day: Friday, January 15th (Dress Down Day)

Students are invited to assist me in celebrating my (Sunday) birthday by sporting Chicago Blackhawks attire or colors on Friday. (No Blackhawks colors or attire? No worries! A gym uniform is absolutely fine, too!) This a free dress down day sponsored by your principal! Go SAS, and go Hawks!

Did you know it's my "twin's" birthday, too, on Sunday? Happy birthday, Mrs. Hutter! We love you! Thank you for always loving and taking such good care of ALL of us!

Ball in the Hall Update

We are hard at work on our 2nd Annual Ball in the Hall, and we need your help! We are seeking sports tickets. Are you a season ticket holder for the Bears, the Blackhawks, the White Sox, Cubs, or Bulls, or do you know someone who is? Would you consider donating some tickets to be used as an auction prize? We can even provide you with documentation so you can claim it as a charitable donation on your taxes. Please call the Parish Office at 708-895-6700 to donate or for more information. School families will receive a volunteer hour for donating!

Ball in the Hall is March 5th. This is a MAJOR fundraiser for the school; your assistance is greatly appreciated.
