We also need to volunteers for the following - please send me an email or a note if you are interested:
--art mom - once a month come and teach us about art! Art Council provides the materials
--party planner & helpers - Help planning and orgnazing our festivies (Halloween, winter, valentines and end of the year). Don't have to do all of them. Need to get moving on halloween though....its only 3 weeks away!
Headphones- If your kiddo doesn't have headphones, please send in a pair as soon as possible. We use the chrome books daily and often need the headphones! I have about 8 kids that don't have a pair, some I think just need a reminder to bring the ones they used last year!
Mark your calendar!!! Thursday, December 22nd at 7 pm is the 4th grade Holiday Music Performance! A note came home a week or so ago from Mrs. Mueller. We wanted to get the date out early for everyone.

Curriculum
Reading -
This week we read a story called POWER OF WOW. It is a story of a group of kids working together to save their community library that just happened to be on wheels! We learned about theme this week and discovered that when a community comes together they can do some amazing things!
Writing-
We've been working on our paper blogs. Kids wrote a paragraph about something they are passionate about! They are amazing. Once we finish the blogs and get them colored we will be inviting you in to share our published work! We will also be using the paper blogs to talk about commenting and internet safety. Once we've done this work then the kids will have the chance to publish their blogs online!
Math -
We are wrapping up unit 2. The test will be Friday, 10/14. Kids are working on data landmarks, adding and subtracting with multidigit numbers. Everyday math is known for their different algorithms or ways to do a math computation problem. With adding there is a partial sums and then with subtracting a partial differences. The kids DO NOT need to do these...if the page says use one they can do the traditional method!!
Science -
Our current science unit is on matter. Kids are exploring solids and how to get them to melt. Today's experiment was about melting ice cubes!
Social Studies -
We are learning about the duties of the Legislative Branch right now and how a bill becomes a law. Do you remember the video, "I'm just a bill on capital hill!" Kids watched it this week to help understand the process.
