Here's What's on Top at Buena Vista - April 12, 2023
Attention all BV Families!
We need your input for our Youth Truth Survey!
Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on Friday, April 28th by clicking this link: ytsurvey.org/wcsdfamily23.
Please note:
- The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
- We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
- If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
- If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
Your response is incredibly valuable to us.
If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact Angela Gramlick at agramlick@walnutcreeksd.org
Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
I hope you all enjoyed Spring Break. I was very grateful for the nice weather we had during break and extra time to spend with my extended family. It is hard to believe we have six in a half weeks left in the school year. Please read on to see what is coming up!
SPRING BACK TO SCHOOL.
Walnut Creek School District remains committed to ensuring health and safety is a priority. The district will continue to implement and adhere to all requirements set forth by the California Department of Public Health. We appreciate our partnership with Contra Costa Health Services who will continue to serve as our support system for all COVID-related matters. We also advise staff and families to follow the recommendations found in the new 2022-23 COVID Guidance for schools.
Stress Awareness -April is Stress Awareness month. Click here for tips and resources to monitor and manage your stress.
DELAC (District English Language Advisory Committee) Meeting is coming up - Thursday, APRIL 13th. Come learn about the Extended Learning Opportunities. See the flyer for more information and the zoom link.
State Testing
When we return from Spring Break, students in 3rd-5th grades will take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). This will be the first time our 3rd graders take this assessment. Students have been practicing using the assessment platform, so that they are comfortable navigating the system. These assessments are another tool to give educators information about student progress and they help us identify areas where we can improve our teaching and support.
5th grades will take the CAST(Science portion) of our state testing on April 20th and 21st. 3rd-5th graders will test on April 24th-April 28th in English Language Arts and Math. It is important that students are at school each day during testing. Please ensure that they arrive at school on time and are well-prepared to do their best. (You can start by making sure they eat a great breakfast each morning.) Additionally, please make every effort to avoid scheduling appointments or other activities that would cause your child to miss school on these testing days.
To learn more about CAASPP testing please see this flyer.
It's a Great Day to be a Bulldog!
Respectfully,
Angela Gramlick
