Extra Yearbook Sales Available - First-Come, First-Served

We will distribute yearbooks to students on the last day of school, and there will be a grade-level yearbook signing during their Specials time. There will be a signature package for the students who did not order a yearbook, but we do have some extra yearbooks for sale to students who did not order one in February.

Students may bring $20 cash or a check (made out to Henry PTO) to purchase a yearbook, on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have a child leaving early before the end of the school year, please notify your child's teacher so that the yearbook gets home with your child before the last day of school.

End of the Year Library News & Reminders

Thank you so much for helping your children locate their missing library books. If your child has any books still out, please help them locate and return the books next week. Thank you in advance for helping us maintain our Henry library collection!

Does your child love to read ebooks or listen to audio books? The online library Sora is available all summer long! Here are directions for how to access your child's account, and your child will log in with their Parkway Google login information. Questions? Please contact Mrs. Goyal at agoyal@parkwayschools.net.

Lost & Found: Please Claim Items by June 1

The Lost and Found tables in the lower level by the cafeteria are overflowing with items waiting to be claimed. Please see the pictures below to see if you can identify any of the clothing or water bottles belonging to your student(s).

If you do see something belonging to your child, please email your child's teacher to have the teacher/your student find a good time they can be sent to the tables to claim their items. Students can also ask their teacher to look at the tables if they are not sure an item is theirs or if they need to look for something they have lost.

All items left at school past June 1st will be donated.

Remember to Schedule Medicine Pick-Up with Nurse Munch!

Summer is almost here and that means it's time to schedule medication pick-up!

Per Parkway Health policy, student medication must be picked up by a parent/guardian and cannot be sent home with students.

If you plan to pick up your child's medication, Nurse Munch will be available on June 1st from 12:30 pm - 4:15 pm and on June 2nd from 8:45 am - 3:00 pm. If these times do not work for you, feel free to stop by the office during normal school hours. Nurse Munch will have Medication Administration forms available for next year or you can find them online here.

Medication not picked up by June 2nd will be discarded. If you choose to have us discard the medication, but would like the forms sent home with your child, please let Nurse Munch know and she can do that as well.

Also, make sure to Check out the May Nurse Newsletter. Topics include How to Be Sun Safe, Pedestrian Safety, Mosquito Awareness, Staying Safe in the Heat, Healthy Summer Nutrition and more!

Middle School Camps Available to Students Entering 6-8th Grade, Spots Still Open

Attention current 5th grade families, don't miss out, there are several middle school camps with openings still available to those entering 6th to 8th Grade. Take a look at the flyer to the right and the flyers below for more information. Camp offerings include Creative Writing, Cooking, Musical Theatre, Sports/Games and a Welcome to Middle School Experience for Incoming 6th Graders.

More details found here or sign up today.

Are you perfect for PTO? Learn more about openings below!

Who wants to get more involved at Henry? The PTO has the following positions open and they are sure there are some parents who would be perfect for these roles!

Co-President with Lisa Nevin. You work together and learn the role and then next year (24-25) you take the lead and work with someone else. Traditionally this person has been involved with school and PTO in some capacity related to the different committees so they have an idea of how the school and PTO runs.

Restaurant Night - Reach out to restaurants in the area to schedule nights for Henry to support them and they in turn support us. We already have a list of restaurants who often participate. It just takes a bit of time, but overall is pretty easy.

Welcome Chair - Organize a welcome breakfast for families new to Henry. The Principal and PTO President will come and talk, so all you need to do or organize or purchase food. This occurs in the morning 1 day in the fall on a M - F before the school day.

Yearbook - Work with the amazing Lisa Donnici Hessel to learn how the yearbook goes together and support the work and eventually take on more of the process.

Beautification Co-Chair - Jessica Buss Banner would love a co-chair to help her out with this committee. She has been doing it for several years and would simply like some support with the work around the outside of the school.

Community Service Co-Chair - Jenn Adams has done a fabulous job of planning community service events every month, but next year will be her last year and she would love some support this year and then you will be prepared for future years to take it on. There are ideas in place for every month already.

DreamBox Math During the Summer Months

All students will continue to have access to DreamBox over the summer regardless of their enrollment in summer school. Students enrolled in summer school will automatically be rostered in DreamBox with their summer school teacher. See the flyer below for more information.

Big picture

Parkway Severe Weather Dismissal Procedures

When severe weather occurs at dismissal time, the following procedures will be followed:

  • Parents should expect a delay in the dismissal process, including possible delays in buses dropping students off at home.
  • Students will continue to be dismissed in rainy weather if lightning is not detected in the immediate area.
  • If lightning or severe winds are occurring near the school, or if the National Weather Service activates emergency sirens, students will be brought inside the school and the dismissal process will be delayed until it is safe to resume the dismissal process.
  • In the event the normal dismissal schedule is altered due to bad weather, students will be relocated to inside safe areas.
  • The school will notify parents of students who are delayed in the dismissal via email and text messages.
  • Parents wishing to pick up their child may go to the school. Once the student is signed out, they will be released directly to the parent/guardian. If the tornado sirens are going off, all staff and students will be sheltering in a safe location. Staff will not be able to dismiss students until any tornado threat has ended.
