Kia ora Parents and Caregivers
There's been lots of exciting events this week at Onekawa School!
Today we kickstarted our Matariki learning with the Ātea a Rangi whare whetū (star dome).
Each class was able to enter the star dome for sessions between 10 and 20 minutes, and learn about the different stars of Matariki, as well as how to find the constellation in the morning sky. It was such a fun and interactive way for our tamariki to start their learning around the Māori New Year.
All our classes have been participating in Hockey skills training over the past few weeks. Min, the facilitator, has been impressed with our children's progress and attitude.
The annual Mitre 10 'Tough Kid' challenge was held yesterday and we entered two hundred children in the event. Our children took up the challenge and had lots of fun. Many thanks to my staff for their organisation. We really appreciated all the support from the parents who were able to attend; I'm sure it made our children go faster!
Today's newsletter has many photos from the events from this week, I hope you enjoy seeing them!
Have a great weekend.
Nga mihi,
Steve
