In-Person Review

It is great to see students back in the building again! We saw a lot of smiling faces from the students (and also from some parents dropping off those students).

This week we had many students come to school with COVID-related symptoms. Since in-person started the week of January 18, we have had over 40 students in quarantine due to COVID related circumstances. At times, we have needed to relocate classrooms and we are finding many teachers are now needing to teach both in-person and remote students at the same time, which is something we want to avoid as much as possible.

We want to keep students in for as long as possible. In order to do that, we need all your help in limiting the spread of COVID-19:

  • Continue social distancing outside of school
  • Wear a mask when you are out and about
  • Avoid travel and activities that bring you into contact with others. If you decide on taking a vacation, we recommend the family self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • Do not send your child to school if showing symptoms (Refer to COVID guidelines below)
  • If a household member has COVID-19 like symptoms, the student must stay home for 14 FULL calendar days from the onset of household member’s symptoms, (returning on the 15th day) OR you may return sooner if you provide a Doctor’s note with alternate diagnosis for the symptomatic household member OR provide a negative COVID-19 test result for the symptomatic household member.

Let's work together to make sure in-person learning is here to stay!

Big picture

Specials Next Week

With the end of the trimester quickly approaching we would love for students to use this week to get caught up on any Specials lessons that they may be behind on. Students and parents can check in Schoology to see exactly what lessons and assignments are missing. If there are any questions, please contact that particular Specials teacher. All missing lessons are due by Friday, February 26th.

For K-2 students and 3-5 students who are all caught up, please follow this schedule:

Wednesday - Music Choice Board

Thursday - PE Choice Board

Friday - Art Choice Board

Enjoy your long weekend!

Zooming/Absence (In-Person Only)

As a reminder, our teachers will be able to Zoom in any students that are quarantined due to COVID related issues.

Zooming in a blended classroom will not be the exact same experience as their in-person peers, but it will allow for them to get exposure to the core lessons that are being taught. SeeSaw and Schoology will still be accessible to those students while they are out.

Please note that this is only for students that are in quarantine due to COVID-related circumstances. A student can start zooming the following school day once the school has been made aware. This allows time for the teacher to prepare their Zooming station to be set up.

COVID Self Certification

ALL In-person families MUST certify your child is free of COVID symptoms DAILY before sending your child to school as well as if they are remaining home due to illness or quarantine.

If you have not already done so, please visit and complete your child's daily self-certification.

If you are unable to create an account, please submit a work ticket and call the school to provide verbal certification until your account is established.

Please remember to complete the self-certification every school day. Thank you!

COVID Information

See below for our updated CVOID-19 Guidelines and also testing sites in the area.

Art To Remember

The deadline for ordering art keepsakes this year is February 26. Thank you to the families who chose to participate! The Art to Remember forms and original artwork have been passed out to teachers. Many teachers were able to hand them out to students with their supply pickups, but some may be waiting for students to return in person. Please email Mrs. Hauser at if you have not received your code yet and are interested in ordering. Thank you!

D.E.A.M. February

Here is the February DEAM Calendar. You can print it, or just copy it down on a piece of paper. Have fun!

Lake Villa Library Survey

As part of our strategic planning process, Lake Villa District Library (LVDL) is conducting a survey to learn more about our patrons: what they value about the library; what collections, services, programs, and facilities they use; and what they would like to see from the library in the future. Even if you do not have a library card or have not visited the library recently, your responses are important for future planning purposes. If you have used the library in the past year (in-person or online), please think about your experiences with our collections, services, programs, and staff when responding to this survey.

All responses are strictly confidential and will only be shared in summary format with the library's staff and Board. The survey report will be used to plan future collections, services, and programs.

If you have any questions about this survey or would like assistance in responding, please contact Mikael Jacobsen, Library Director, at 847-245-5100 or

This survey should take you about 8-10 minutes to complete.

Thank you for your time!
